Depression - Just Snap Out of It

I don't believe I've ever suffered from depression (definitely not diagnosed) but on the flip side of the "just snap out of it" thing...I have said that to people I know with depression without realizing how insensitive it seemed. From my standpoint, if I decide to do something, I do it, and if...

What STUPID things that people do really annoy you?

I can't stand it when people babble. My husband does this sometimes and it drives me up the wall! If I'm going through a quiet spell, he thinks he needs to fill the silence by talking about anything and everything and it just makes me withdraw more.

    Thunderstorms

I love storms, especially at night. I just find them really soothing. We've had a lot of bad ones recently though. I got caught driving in one a couple days ago and it was scary! I live in a valley so storms don't usually wreak havoc, but the city north of me still has people without power after...

    Losing friends over time?

I've lost quite a few friends over time without even realizing it. I recently disclosed my AS to one of those ex-friends and it actually did help. She said she had no hard feelings and we've kind of kept in contact over Facebook for the last month or so. I still don't think I was wrong in the...

What are the saddest, most tragic Movie/TV scenes that have made you cry, shed tears?

Re: What are the saddest, most tragic Movie/TV scenes that have made you cry, shed te I cried at the end of The Notebook when Allie, as an old woman, realizes that Noah was telling the story of their love. When she says "It was us." I'm not really a crier...for some reason old people just...

    are you sensitive to pain?

I'm mostly numb to some pains, and overly sensitive to others. For example, I love getting tattoos, and piercings don't bother me. If I have some small injury, I usually forget about the pain and don't feel it again until I think about it. On the other hand, I have a bulging disk in my...

    Smelling things

I'm like that sometimes. Usually when someone has used way too much cologne. When you can actually feel it entering your nasal passages, it's time to cut down.

    Smelling things

I never really thought of it as an Aspie trait but there are a few smells I'm just obsessed with. Lilac Eucalyptus Dog paws (that mix of grass and dirt I think) Winter air Pine Irish Spring soap Home improvement stores (Lowe's, TSC, Ace, etc) I don't know what it is but I love being in...

    Learning on your own

This doesn't really apply to learning in the traditional sense, but I've recently taken up a couple new hobbies such as crochet and fishing. When I was little, my family used to go fishing all the time and I absolutely hated it. My mom would try and force me and it got so bad that I would break...

    Acting more coherent than others?

I find that I act incredibly coherent in pretty much any situation. I can be drunk, sleep-deprived, angry, you name it, and I still make logical choices that I can stand by (and remember). The one I receive comments about most often is my driving. I live in the country, and there are a lot of...

    Sleep trouble / waking trouble

Try exercising in the evening, a few hours before you go to bed. Even just a walk can help. I have trouble falling asleep a lot, but wearing myself out a little does me some good.

    Deep Rooted Rejection

Rejection from others doesn't really bother me. I'd be happy staying at home nonstop with my dogs and my husband. But I'd have to send my husband out sometimes to give me a break. :P I do tend to reject people myself quite a bit though. Sometimes people just come on too strong for my taste...

Subtle excuses for not to socialize.

Cell phones are really good for this. I'll text someone, pretend to text, or pretend to check my voicemail. I also always keep my Kindle in my purse so I can start reading whenever I want/need to.
