  • Someone I used to know gave me the cold shoulder when I saw them in public.

Are you sure they saw you and recognized you?

Did you say hello to them?

We both saw each other and he looked like he was disgusted to see me.

I raised my hand and waved ‘Hello’ to him.

Sorry you feel this way. :pensive:
The more I think about the fact I turned 35 and I still haven’t achieved what I want just makes me feel worse than before.

Maybe you could think about other things and not feel so badly.

Not to minimize your issues, but a lot of us feel this way at every age. The human condition is a bit of a struggle.
If I flunk the course, I think maybe it will be time to leave this forum.

I am extremely confused as to how the first thing could lead to the second thing.

I don't think you need to tie those two things together. Pass or flunk, no need to leave the forum either way. Good luck with the course.

I think we all know you're not actually considering leaving. You are however looking for attention.
The day is halfway over and I still can’t move forward with my final paper. Maybe I really am mentally impaired?

@tree I have a topic and that would be the communication difficulties with autism. I just feel really daunted by how much I need to write as well as research for it.

You don't have to do it all at once.
    Break it into bits.

Each of the four sections of the body must have at least three paragraphs with at least five complete sentences each:

    5 sentences per paragraph.

    3 paragraphs per section.

    4 sections.

    60 sentences.
Apparently being sad over not having a romantic partner is selfish. Why can’t society just give me a break and understand that I have inherent struggles?
    Masked Man
    Masked Man
You can be sad but it should not be your entire personality.

    Have you completed your paper?
    Rodafina

@Markness I also wonder how it became apparent to you that this is selfish behavior.
    M
    Misty Avich
Who said that? Wanting a romantic partner to love isn't selfish.
If I flunk the course, does this mean I should give up on everything else?

    You tell me.
How else could a person think about what they do?
What's another way to look at it?

You put in no effort, then are upset when you don't achieve the results you want. How do you not see that you are doing this to yourself?

Do what feels right to you. College is not easy, so don’t feel bad if you struggle. It takes time and hard work to get there. I trust you will make the right decision for yourself.
I honestly feel more and more pain pile on me every night I spend alone. I am 35 years old and still can’t get even a coffee date just like I couldn’t in my late teens. Why doesn’t life change for me?
    Rodafina

You keep getting the same answers to the same questions. Have you tried asking different questions?

    For example…

What do I love to do in life?

What is something I could do for others?

What else is there in life besides the quest for a girlfriend?
When you can’t join in socially on Friday nights, what should one do?

I biked four and a half miles in the dark, have a pile of food cooked in the kitchen, and practiced the organ. Didn't go socializing. Depends on what you expect from your evenings.
    Gerontius
    Gerontius
The thing is I don't expect to really socialize much because I am not a crowd-seeking person. You're better at large groups than I am.

Do anything that you enjoy doing!

Me? I like to sing songs to Rocky. I like to come on the forum and post in other peoples’ threads. I like to take photographs in the early evening hours
I wish I could be creative but I currently can’t and that worries me because my life is running out.

    You keep on measuring yourself against external expectations. HERE . . . internalize the insights in this;

    What do you mean "can't"?

Your arms and hands are bound in casts?
    You're constantly unconscious?
    Masked Man

You're correct, your life is running out but it's due to inertia, not a lack of creativity. You spinning in circles doing the same thing over and over has shown it gets you nowhere. And yet here you are. I realize change is scary but if you want things to move forward you have to be proactive. And it has to come from you. No one is going to do it for you.
I keep eating junk food even though I have metabolic syndrome and suffer from neuropathy.

    Mary Terry
Can't you use some self-control? Impulsively eating junk food is literally making you sick.
The Thief of Always is much more brisk than Imajica but it’s no less powerful in imaginative quality.
I forget that I have metabolic syndrome.
    tree
    tree
Metabolic syndrome is diagnosed when someone has 3 or more of these risk factors:

    High blood sugar
    Low levels of HDL cholesterol
    High levels of triglycerides
    Large waist
    High blood pressure
The Thief of Always is said to be Clive Barker’s all ages novel. I have a feeling it’s a book I should’ve read when I was a child. The books before it are definitely not kid friendly.
