how do you feel about winter/colder months?

Snow is beautiful when you are indoors in a warm house watching it drift down and cover everything up. And then you have to go outside and try to drive in it, and the beauty vanishes pretty quickly.

Are you afraid of the dark?

If you mean supernatural ones, that's easy. I have no belief in the supernatural at all. If you mean human ones, which are certainly real enough threats, I take reasonable precautions. Though a legitimate and rational concern about the risks from the actions of human criminals is not the same...

Are you afraid of the dark?

I can't ever remember a time when I was afraid of the dark. I am a night owl by nature and love the dark, especially being out and about in it. On foot, in a car, didn't matter. I'm somewhat older now so not out late like I used to be, but I still enjoyed the peace and relative solitude.

Full moon effect on autistic individuals.

I have never noticed any particular effects from the phase of the moon. In my current life I am generally oblivious to it. In a former occupation I was outside a lot at night so I'd notice, but again, no direct effect on me nor did I notice it causing a general change in human behavior. I was...

Does anyone else get kicked off of other forums for being "rude"?

Never been banned. I do notice that many forums tend to move towards a certain group-think, and if you have different opinions from the norm for that forum, you'll quickly become the focus of the local Protectors of the Group Opinions. What inevitably occurs, unless the forum moderation and...

Autistic child with the repetitive "I don't know" answer

Those questions sound like I'd be likely to answer them the same way. I hate being endlessly quizzed about something when I have told them that I don't know the answer to their questions. For example - what are your plans for the future? Not everyone plans for the future, lots of people just...

    Just introducing myself.

Wow, Annie, sounds like we have a least a few things in common. I love your indoors Christmas lights idea! When I was a kid I used to adore the colors and twinkling of Christmas lights. I could lie on the couch for hours in the darkened living room watching the play of the patterns on the...

    Awkward Walking and Body Movement

I have always (at least as long as I have been aware of it) held my head tilted slightly to the right. When I tilt my head on purpose so that it is perfectly vertical, to me it feels like it is leaning to the left. I don't personally notice it when I am looking in the mirror unless I stop to...

    I have a gifted baby

My problem in school was that allegedly at age 6 I tested as though I were age 8. So everyone expected a lot of me. I kept getting comments on my report cards that "he is so bright, but he needs to apply himself more" because people weren't aware of my AS (assuming I actually am, I am not...

    I have a gifted baby

I don't know if it's a shadow, but if that's a picture of you as your avatar, I think she has your eyebrows.

    Does anyone understand me?

Well, you are no longer alone, at least. As to how much it will help you, only you can determine. However, when you post about your seemingly odd thoughts, unexpected reactions from others, frustrations with the world, and just general questions and concerns, you are sure to get a good number...

    Boyfriend undiagnosed

I love my wife dearly but I have to specifically remember to think about those little things like texting her little heart symbols for no reason out of the blue. It's like I understand the concept, I just have to specifically think about it and remember "oh yeah, I should show some outward...

When did you realize that you're different for the 1st time?

Probably around 2007 or so, when I was 50, was when I first really looked into Asperger's Syndrome and realized that it explained a lot of my personality and behaviors. However, one of the things I kept coming up against was that it was normally diagnosed in childhood, and I had a pretty...

    Meaningless conversations

Perhaps I am a closet NT. I love talking to people about things. Small talk is fine by me. I think my major challenge was always this: I was quite confident that I was a charming and witty conversationalist and could go into rather great detail on a wide range of topics. Turns out that this...
