Regular doctor. I actually just found a decent therapist.

    Autism & Doctors

Part of my problem is I'm in the town where all my family is, and this doctor knows my family and goes to my church. On top of that, my wife accused me of doctor-hopping until I got the answer I wanted. Lots, and lots, and lots of social and interpersonal potholes in this situation.

    anyone else experiencing holiday whiplash?

My problem is my job has messed up my holiday routine (among other things). I haven't had a good holiday season in two years.

    Executive Function and Spending?

I'm not good with money, and it is totally an executive function thing. My wife even tried to go through the Dave Ramsay stuff a few years ago. When she asked me to help clarify a concept, I could give it to her in stated brilliance. Even made her more confused as to why I couldn't execute the...

What do people on the spectrum feel they have to offer?

Loyalty is a number one benefit from any autistic person in any kind of relationship.

I never had a relationship but I want to hold off dating until after College, Is it a bad thing?

Be willing to wait for the right person. Always. Be willing to accept that they must accept you even though you've already accepted them. And be willing to disclose early that you're autistic. It will help them see you through the right lens.

    Autism & Doctors

So I had a doctor that basically tried to blame a meltdown I was having due to frustration on being manic. He's stopped listening to me now, saying "that's the mania talking". Anyone have a similar occurrence? What did you do to counteract?

    Autism and Buddhism

Religion and Aspies is a very tricky subject. As people have already been telling you, everyone reacts differently. Me? I'm currently in the middle of comparing stories from the bible to historical writings on subjects such as gods of the Levant during polytheistic times, or stories of King...

Too late go back to school ?

It is never too late. Especially when you are in any type of college, I would find it easier than public school. If you are having trouble in one class, but not the next, then you only have to speak to the one professor to arrange assistance/modification. But any professor you speak top will...

    Spotting Aspergers Syndrome In Men

Funny thing is, my NT wife has said many times if I came across while dating the way I do now, she may not have married me. My dear wife though was guarded and came across as more independent while we were dating. As well as our dating circumstances played well in to me being a ND because we...

    Understanding...But Not

Absolutely. I finally got my unemployment filing back, and they are going ahead and providing payments to me because it was found that I did not lose my job due to misconduct, just that my employer was not satisfied with me. So that was an At-Will termination. Good thing I am in a new job now.

    ASD in Rural Areas

More likely to isolate yourself, yes. But isn't being isolated in plain sight just as damaging? The cool thing where I live right now is that my son, who will likely end up with an ASD diagnosis himself, are around adults that encourage other kids his age to be accepting of "people that think...

    ASD in Rural Areas

My original question came about because of all the recent goings on that I've talked about in the following thread. I've encountered this rough push back two jobs in a row. The last job just felt like utter hostility, which is why it gave me problems with my physical health. The most recent one...

How important is an official Diagnosis?

I echo what's been said of it being peace of mind more than anything else. Some of my stress has been relieved just knowing what to attribute certain things to.
