I support the PAP (the Singapore ruling party). I love the PAP. I even think, and still think, PAP are the only party that will uphold the interests of all Singaporeans, even though news and Internet sources suggest otherwise. It's not because of my MP or Ms Phua, or even Sir Harry Lee (Singapore's Founding Father), it's because PAP delivers more than its promise.
While the WP do not want the streaming system, they did nothing about it. However, the PAP decided to take SDP's proposal and abolish streaming. We know SDP has no representatives in Parliament, though it has 40% of the total votes in the few handful of seats it contested, amounting to an overall support level of around 20% in the previous Presidential elections, where we see the support levels of different parties. When PAP does things that 20+% (not a silent majority) has expressed through their votes, it means something. In my opinion, PAP can represent SDP's voice better than WP. The opposition is not just one big opposition.
Indeed, had we voted for George Yeo and team into Parliament, I even think Singapore will have more societal pressures to change from within. George Yeo has a proven track record to change with some compromise, given the vote percentage surrounding Aljunied GRC. WP, even as opposition, don't have such records.
It's more of a personal belief than any other logical stuff that they can keep it up, though.
I do not trust Workers Party to represent our interests, they are a bunch of rich Polytechnic graduates who are lucky enough to go to University (or so, as the Youth WP Exco's profiles suggest) - to me, this doesn't change things, because it's with them that Singapore goes polarised. I fear Singapore will be a society where Junior College graduates go against Polytechnic and ITE graduates.
