Half Normal

Working Twice As Hard To Be Seen As Half Normal - Blogs - Aspies Central - Asperger's Syndrome and Autism Forums

I do not agree that I should work to be half normal.

If normalcy is our goal, and we know when we did our best, we'll only achieve half normalcy, then it's really something to reflect upon. Should we continue to work our heart out to work on something, which we'll have a higher incidence of failing; or should we just accept that we are, after all, special, so we should accept ourselves for what we are, and make ourselves to have a lifestyle where we will be seen as 'lazy', 'do no-good', 'waste of potential' etc.?

After all, the harder we work, the more psychological stress we have to deal with. And such stresses, as one Aspie friend rightfully said, is unnecessary. We put it upon ourselves.

Personally, it could be more desirable for me to lead a simpler and lonelier lifestyle, than to bear with possibly worse consequences if I do indeed work twice, thrice as hard as what I do now - and never regaining the energy to pick up again to do whatever ahead of me. I'd rather do all I can, even if I can do it much more quickly if I just push myself to the limits, set by other people who had done similar targets.

Mind you, I'd battled with a host of conditions, and I don't want to go back to a sad state of affairs again!
