In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, there is one episode that interests me: Cutie Mark Chronicles. It is about 3 young ponies (fillies) trying to get cutie marks, or at least in human form equivalents, societal recognition for their talents. They spoke to all the ponies on the way and listened to the story how they got their cutie marks.
Turns out, their disparate experience is all linked to one thing: Rainbow Dash (one of the 'older' ponies) decided to race against the other ponies. In her quest to win the race, she performed a sonic rainboom (sonic boom with a rainbow trail) and on the way, created loud explosions and a rainbow, that inspires other ponies to explore their gifts and talents - and cutie marks.
Twilight Sparkle then commented,
I always feel that human beings are all interlinked to one another, just as fictional ponies do.
We are all affected by the same things that influence our lives: the same forces of globalization through technological change, the same events that move and shake the world (like financial crises and terrorist threats), and the same ideals to improve our lives. We react differently, but overall, human beings are more similar than being different if we have to trace what guides us along.
We share the same destiny.
