AC is doing a great job!

I always intended to form an all-inclusive autism community in Singapore, where Auties and Aspies work together for the greater good. I don't mind if High-Functioning Auties or Aspies oppose to it, because after all, look at it, why do we have autism spectrum disorder? ASD is about people displaying a set of behaviors that reflect the lack of social functioning of ASDs, and this is something we can't control much. So even if other Aspies say, I'm a moron, or I'm out of my mind, or I'm impractical, or even I'm putting haters together, I don't mind. It's all of us reflecting our autism through our behavior.

My intentions right from the very start is to be part of an all-inclusive group. If this isn't happening, then I feel that other forums work better for me, such as Aspies Central.

Much as I love

I love what Tigris' group is doing, it is, after all, a grassroots autism support group, I feel Aspies Central is so much better than his group. I understand he's a member here, but as his friend both online and in real life, I just want to make it clear, I am telling everything that helps him, not hurts him.

Recently, some Singaporean guy who graduated from high school, and is currently studying in university, asked Tigris and his affiliate why the group experienced inactivity. Tigris and his friend did their best to explain matters to that guy. However, the affiliate, and eventually, Tigris, did not like the guy, because he "has not changed his point of views and considering the **** (the group) has gone through to get into the state we're in right now" it will "most likely gonna recreate a scenario far worse" than the inactivity.

To me, it is just the clueless leading the clueless. Aren't we all autistic? And yet, we don't accept each other for what we do.

In comparison, Aspies Central maintain great civility through the forum. We respect each others' points of view, even if they conflict with each other. We do not go around purposely hurting each other, with a few notable exceptions which are regrettable and unfortunate - even in such cases, they involve users who need further professional counseling. Unlike AC, there is no culture of respect of differences in many groups that I see.

So I only do what is natural. I say they are not doing things the way it can best work for them, and other alternatives are possible but I don't think I can wait for it - I have

If we can't do the things that Aspies Central do - such as really involving people with lots of ideas to contribute to the group, by selecting the top users in Aspies Central using algorithms to be admins and moderators, I do not consciously think that ACASE can really be effective enough for Singapore and Singaporeans

Because no matter what happens, the most active members, regardless of their views, are accepted as they are. Some members in AC can be annoying and cocky, but the forum is civil...

Look at what happened to Tigris' forums. Yes, we're friendly group, and yes, it remains as Tigris' personal group, so I believe I should talk as much of it as I want. I respect Tigris as a person, but simply put, he should really consider to that Aspie university student's views.

He said that society doesn't change, the people in society think of things in a way that Aspies need to adapt to.

I agree with him.

While, like him, I think "vaccines? They are A-OK" and that it's great to have an autism cure, we are Aspies. So we do both: we try to hone our strengths, but most importantly, we do our best to limit our limitations. But most important of all, we have to be hopeful, we have to do something to the world that adds value to the world.

Quarreling does not bring that.

I think, though, I like writing, so I write here. I hope I can tell the world, ideas are great.

I see that the environment in AC is more conducive than any other place in the world, so far, to bring forward me and my Aspie ideas.

I think AC is a forum where it is worth me sharing 100% of my time and effort. Yes, I and Tigris may be the only Singaporeans here, and Tigris runs his forum. So what? The world is much larger and wider than Singapore.

Look:

The autism society wants me to work in a group under their charge, so long as my parents are willing. I'm willing. Not my parents. They think 'all groups bring politics'. Effectively, the government just has other priorities (such as low-functioning Auties).

My parents, meanwhile, want me to add to the family's bottom line. I think I'll support them, after all, despite my limitations, they're always by my side. They even agreed with me that perhaps welfare could help Aspies the most, and all Aspies share the similarities of the Low-functioning autie's vulnerability, and they felt sorry I was oppressed in the past, while I am supposed to be supported. Anyway, because these 2 years have been quite chaotic to me. I'm supposed to take care of 2 young grandkids they have. Autism stops me from developing a full uncle-niece/nephew relationship with the grandchildren. But what it doesn't stop me is, I was told, I'm much more considerate than my nephew's aunts (my brother-in-law's sisters).

My school wants me to work in a group under their charge, so long as I somehow get hold of a member list of 15 people. I'm willing. There are only 5 Aspies who outed,, including me, 2 of which graduated. I tried to do alternatives - even trying to form a new club - but well, Aspies still hide in their little corners, and I have to respect it. I think I will hide in my little corner, too, though I may crawl here and say hi. I feel great here.
