Why is a "cure" so controversial?

i generally operate under the assumption that people are intelligent enough to know what i am saying. the clarification is only done if needed.
There's that assumption word again.

Cure for Autism? Won't happen.

Not until they invent Star Trek level medical technology anyway and even then it probably still won't happen.

There won't ever be a "cure" because there's no disease or illness to cure in the first place, even if they produced something to change an autistic person into an NT, it still wouldn't be a cure, it would be a modification, interfering with nature.

The associated symptoms can be cured though; anxiety, OCD, ect.
