Why I love collecting vintage photos

A photos like this, what they call a flying boat, more about it below the photo:

It turns out to be a rare prototype flying boat from the WW2 era, called the Latecoere 611 AKA "Achenar", only one was made for the French Navy, and if flew 1600 hours from 1939 to 1947... And I probably only paid $1 for the photo, it's probably not worth that much, or maybe it is given the subject matter... I just love researching things like this... I know I should be an historian for a living Easier said than done, I often call myself an amateur historian... That's pretty cool. For me, it's interesting to see all the different airplane shapes that are no longer in use. We don't seem to have much variety now.

I like collecting old math books. It's fun for me to see what was considered essential math and how they taught it a century ago. Before calculators, there were a lot of tricks to doing match quickly and accurately. Those tricks are all but forgotten now. I've learned a few of them and enjoy showing them off.

I have thousands of vintage photos! Just purchased some more today from a local antique mall

Great caption on that first one and a fun image... The second one, I have some photos from that photographer myself, or at least photos printed by them...

I just purchased this one today, for a fair amount of money, but certainly unique... Likely to be passed on to a friend who is far more into vintage bikes... 1890's London portrait
