Why do some people do this? It really confuses me! In a public place like a bar, why do some people try for acknowledgement from someone else already sitting down? Complete strangers.

For the same reason why I tell slasher movies victims not to enter the dark attic where the chainsaw wielding maniac is waiting for them when I watch those movies at my house.
