When do you start decorating for Halloween?

Not sure if this goes in OT or Obsessions and Interests, so I will post it here.

With the Fourth of July now behind us, the next decorative holiday is typically Halloween (I am not sure who decorates for Labor Day or Columbus Day). I would like to know, when do you start decorating for Halloween?

Our typical time is the weekend after Labor Day. We typically put up orange and black light bulbs.

Usually I have my stuff up a week ahead of time.
I love decorating for Halloween. Always make the entry to the house look haunted.
And I put on make-up, darken the foyer and wait for the kids. It's fun.

I don't decorate for it but I do dress up.

Last year I went to a Charity Halloween Ball at a local Masonic Hall.

My parents start decorating the 1st of October. As far as I'm concerned the whole month of October is Halloween time. I like to read scary stuff and watch scary movies throughout October.

I normally start right on the first day of October. My mother thinks you should should wait until after Thanksgiving, which is on the second Monday of October in Canada, but then I'd only have them up for two or three weeks. Also I made most of my decorations by hand, like the cut-outs I display in the windows.:D
