What was your first car?

Mine was a 1977 Chevy Nova concours I bought in 1986 for $500 at 15yrs old.

If I remember correctly it was a Mazda 818 Station Wagon, made in 1972. Bought for me by my father in 1988 for $500 bucks. I was 16 at the time. Mine was neon orange.



Couple of years later, bought by me, an Honda Accord 1984:



The Honda died and I went back to public transportation until I saved enough for my first BRAND NEW CAR, a Mazda MX-3 1994:

^This^ is the one and only car I bought for it's looks and stats. *THIS* car reflects *me*. All other cars before and after were bought because of necessity and with budgets constraints.

After that, there was a Susuki Baleno 1996 I bought for my wife to use:



Then we needed a 3rd "spare car" for when hers or mine was in repairs... so I got a 1972 Toyota Crown (and we were in the 2000s lol). Cheapest car ever, $200. I sold the radio and speakers for $250 so car was basically free. I gave it to my nephew and afaik, is still running and taking him to school & work, every day:



Later, wife wrecked the Baleno and I replace it with a Ford WindStar 1998:



Then we relocated to Florida and I bought a Hyundai Accent 2000 for me:

Oh, I see I over did it, it was the first car and I put all.

Well... about that first station wagon I got: My older sisters also contributed some money and in return I had to drive their kids to/from daycare every day. It was fun back then, heck, I wanted to drive, I was 16. But now I realize I was exploited...lol 4 different sisters, 4 different toddlers, 4 different daycares, every morning before *my* school... and every afternoon after *my* school. All those miles every day... plus the emergency stops to change diapers...

I have never had a car of my own but the first car I drove was my dad's 1987 Ford Escort 1.4L. I was still living at home when I passed my test aged 18 and my dad often let me use the car at weekends to go out with friends. Loads of happy memories!

I'm still on my first car, which is a Smart Fortwo 2003. It used to be my uncle's before he moved to Canada and he couldn't keep it any more so my dad bought it, and now I pay half the insurance. It's a nice little car but I wouldn't recommend it as a first car; you get a different perspective from the driver's seat because it has no rear, and it took me a while to get used to judging the amount of room I had when trying to park it. Plus it has automatic transmission, and I passed my test in my instructor's Suzuki Swift which has manual. Still, it gets me from A to B, and insurance isn't too expensive; it will come down further as long as I keep my license clean.

My first car was a 1984 Buick Skylark. My mom gave it to me when my uncle gave her a 1993 GMC Jimmy. My 1992 Accord is my second car which was also a gift but not a family member this time. A lady from my church gave it to me. I don't have a picture of the Skylark only the Accord.

Mine was a '92 Firebird, when I bought it, it had the 3.1 and during my absence on this website I dropped in a 383 stroker with T400 transmission.

I bought her 5 years ago and I'll never let her go

I don't remember what year, but it was a tan mercury and it was an older vehicle maybe from the 80s. I paid 1000 dollars for it, did a few driving lessons, but the anxiety was too much. Then someone sold it without telling me or giving me the money, either my grandma or my dad i guess.

When I turned 16 in 1984, I "inherited" a gold 1963 Plymouth Barracuda. My parents had purchased it early in their marriage and kept it all those years. My brother used it but that year he got another car and the Barracuda became mine to use. I used to drive to High School with it and all the kids would make fun of me because it looked old and clunky. It is ironic now that that car is collectible.

Remember both of them well. I always thought they were both based on the Ford Cortina MkII as that used a similar shape from '62. This the '70's look

It does look a lot like a Datsun, especially the rear quarter panel area. I really liked mine. Unfortunately, a buddy and I (16 and 17 years of age) were out acting ignorant and we hit a telephone pole four feet off the ground. It tore the IRS out and seriously damaged the body.

There's supposed to be a nice picture of a green Marina, shows in preview but not when posted.

At least you guys walked away from it! I 'parked' my Cortina under the back of a truck, ripped the roof off and I really thought my number was up

I was lucky that my smash happened on a private industrial estate so the police weren't involved. My dad sorted it out with the truck firm and I was grounded from driving 'till I could earn the money for a replacement.
