What was the last movie you watched?

Companion. That's a messed up but darkly humorous little film. It has solid social commentary and plays out like a Black Mirror episode, even (so that's good for the crowd of us who just got season 7, as well).

Gremloids (better known as Hyperspace).

It's a 1984 low-budget Star Wars parody - with a group of evil Jawa-type aliens aliens and their Darth Vader-esque leader seeking a Princess named Serina, who (according to the film's opening text crawl) "has stolen vital radio transmissions from an evil Galactic Alliance."
The main difference? Due to their leader getting the navigation calculations wrong, the aliens end up lightyears off course and land on Earth - leading to a timid exterminator named Max and Karen (an employee at a transmission repair shop who is mistaken by the aliens for Princess Serina) to work together to evade the aliens chasing them and later stop their invasion.

The movie, as mentioned, is very low-budget and silly, with the film not afraid to also make fun of its own low budget in certain cases.
For example, one of the films more infamous scenes involves a pursuit in a supermarket, with Karen and Max in a shopping trolley that starts flying (due to an alien power source they stole earlier be activated) and a group of the Jawa aliens (with their own alien power source) pursuing them in another flying shopping trolley and firing at them with laser guns - which is the film's equivalent to the speeder chase from Return of the Jedi.
However, the green screen for the flying shopping trolleys is awful, with Karen even declaring "This is embarrassing!" during the chase.

One interesting thing about this film is that its Darth Vader parody villain - known as "Lord Buckethead" - went on to have an interesting career in the UK afterwards as a novelty political candidate (although I won't discuss that further here, as per the forum's rules on political discussions).

In short, this movie is best enjoyed with low expectations, some alcohol consumption and a willingness to embrace the daftness of it.

"I Aim At The Stars" (1960)

Dramatization of the story of German rocket scientist Dr. Wernher von Braun, who first developed rockets for Nazi Germany and later for the United States Army and NASA. Living long enough to have witnessed America put men on the moon in the Apollo Space Program.

I think it was Heretic.

The antagonist said that Radiohead ripped off a song by the Hollies. Then something by Lana Del Rey was pinched from Radiohead. 😅

I'll sue ya! 👨‍⚖️

Typos suck.

Werewolves.

Ugh. I always love practical FX (many of you know why), but they were wasted in this film because the filmmaker decided to do the worst thing you can do when making a movie....make it hard to watch. Once the Sun goes down in the film (about ten minutes into it), every scene has flickering lights and/or lots of lens flares bouncing around. Add to that some of the most hard to follow, choppy editing, and it's just a movie that actually hurts to try and look at the whole time. The story lacked and had way more suspension of disbelief than you'd usually approve of, as well.

Still, if you can handle all of the above, give it a shot. It might be your cup of tea.

The last movie I started watching was ‘When Marnie was there’ but I only got halfway through before I lost interest. Been having trouble concentrating on movies lately. Maybe because of the nicer weather. I really enjoy light hearted anime’s.

"Oppenheimer" (2023)

The story of the scientist most responsible for the successful development of the atomic bomb from 1942 to 1945.

And the tragedy of how his own government destroyed him because he had a different vision of the postwar world regarding such weapons.

I watched like half of Countess Dracula.

It's about a witch played by Ingrid Pitt, who needs the blood of virgins to maintain a youthful appearance. It is temporary, so she has her lover kidnap women in their village.

It was Prometheus (2012) one of the "alien" movies. It was hilarious because I got a copy from goodwill and it was scratched so it glitched in a funny way.

I do like the movie a lot. It's probably far from being a perfect movie but I really like it. I never get sick of the alien plot format. I didn't care for Romulus, though.

My wife got tickets for an advanced screening for MI8 (Mission Impossible 8). I have mixed feelings but it's effectively a "love letter" saying farewell from Mr tom Cruise.

Prometheus made quite an impact on me, the AI cyborg was the most impressive character played by Michael Fassbender.

I agree, I think he made for a great AI, and also quite impressionable for me as well.

Last night I watched an anime movie called "hells". It had a nice art style, although I would say the plot got lost on me.
