Australian Bands...my favourite is, personally: no, it's not acca dacca... not midnight ooil, those are good runners up, but, for me it's gotta be:In Excess. - Need U 2night
There you go - that was the album where I felt the rot set in for them!That was when Michael Hutchence became insufferable. I had all their albums before this one - and then that was it for me. Still enjoy their early albums - but this, it's a precursor of Hutchence's subsequent egomanic response to fame. His behaviour in the 90s really made me embarrassed to be Australian. And the music suffered for it too, I think. The Swing, to me, was their last great album....
The Church, on the other hand - still marvellous. Saw Steve Kilbey & friends at a gig last year, excellent..
Similar subject matter to your song, but Kilbey's head isn't a weather balloon, and he doesn't give the impression that he thinks he's God's greatest gift to women...
