what is genius, how do we measure it?

Boy was he one of us reminds me of my brother, who did not care if he got his degree after all did not go to university for piece of paper, rather the knowledge he would gain.

I think that the definition of genius is somewhat subjective. Most people agree that Newton and Einstein were geniuses. Some think that Stephen Hawking is also genius but I disagree. As a wise man said, "They don't give Nobel Prize for astronomy." The reason is clear to me. iI would take a good trillion of years to test an astrophysical theory, by that time the universe might evolve into something new with new laws of physics. There is no guarantee that the laws of nature will remain the same for the eternity to come. For example, Dirac proposed that the gravitational constant changes as the time goes by. He didn't say it willy-nilly, he actually built a cosmological theory absed on this assumption, and it works much better than Hawking's theory of evaporating black holes.

Perhaps a better question to ask is what are the common characteristics of genius-level intelligence? Certainly, we can point to some of our great scientific minds, but there is also music, art, and other topics. How quickly does one process information? How creative they are at solving problems? Is genius-level intelligence identified in a very narrow area or are we talking about someone with an overall intelligence? Certain characteristics are present and identifiable regardless of what genre their contributions.

A lot of genius goes unrecognised too, there's a lot of extremely clever people out there. Over The Horizon Radar was one of Australia's top military secrets for decades but it wasn't originally created by our military. It was invented by a couple of ham radio operators near the end of World War 2 as an answer to the Japanese threat.
