I just got diagnosed with PDD.. Thought it was that pervasive devolopment disorder and was like what? But no its persistent depressive disorder.
And lets not forget OCD obsessive compulsive disorder

Generalised Anxiety Disorder.
(Non specific- for example Social Anxiety Disorder is specific to social situations)

GAD is exactly what it says on the tin.
From waking up through to going to sleep, if one sleeps and everything in between.

With the use of all the abbreviations, it makes me wonder if the "experts" are lazy or just can't spell.

I think the scientific and medical professions use huge words, and Latin words to appear smarter than they actually are. Makes sense you can't read the doctors writing if he can't spell what he's writing a prescription for. Haha. Only my joking opinion. No offense meant to anyone.

I found DD, DH, DS particularly confusing as I thought Aspies were inclined not to use endearments. Really couldn't work them out. But apparently some do. Maybe its just me that finds them awkward to use and sickening to hear. Seems really odd when seeing them in a post on a forum. Just say who you mean!

It took me a long time to understand what those meant, makes no sense to me. I'm with you, just say who you mean, what's wrong with son, or daughter or husband....sometimes they are not so darling. Good grief, say what you mean people!

It drives me mad that people use abrreviations or acronyms for things and then expect you to know what they are talking about. Unless it is something really common such as ASD or OMG, people should write them out in full, but mostly they are too lazy.
