What are your future/current careers?

Mechanic (although they call us engineers) in a commercial laundry. Has its goods and bads, the technical aspect is great, the people aspect sucks. It's an extremely high stress environment, the only good part of that is I can get mad and yell at the managers and it's not a big deal because everyone is on edge. Not the best place for an Aspie, but it covers up the meltdowns which for me usually culminate in getting upset with someone...

I'm glad you're enjoying that work, and I'm really surprised to learn there's so much money in it! It never really occurred to me that that could be a good career for an Aspie, but it makes sense. No interviewing process? Not having to leave the house? Wish I could find a job like that.

Thanks! Yeah, the thing about "vanilla" jobs as one would call it, you need to act a certain way to remain professional, but with being a camgirl, you make money being yourself. I get over the initial anxiety of trying to please a room full of horny guys by just talking about the things I'm obsessed with, like Batman and serial killers. You need to be entertaining to interest guys enough to make money, and so I just stay my goofy, silly, childish self and end up making friends who also want to pay me to take my clothes off haha.

I'm a good report writer, but I'm poor at the relationships side of my job. I would love to get out of the project management role and into a technical role. I spent a couple of years doing air quality modelling. That was the best job ever! If I could get back into that, I would be a happy person : )

I sooooooooo get that. That you found a job that works with your autism. I did too as an insurance underwriter for many years. Or so I thought. However the job evolved over legal and consumer issues, and I went from being an enforcer of policy to a negotiator and salesman. This evolution eventually took me from elation on the job, to one of misery. I eventually quit after nearly 20 years.

I still remember the underwriting manager at the time who yelled at me once behind closed doors, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?"

I didn't have an answer back then. I sure do now. Probably one of the biggest pieces of my autism puzzle that I solved all on my own.

Administrative assistant. I was pretty confident that I could get a promotion in the near future until I found out yesterday about how much phone and face to face interaction was involved. I'm stuck.

I am currently a student and work part time as a waitress in a coffee shop. I am studying geophysics and I want to be a seismologist and work with earthquakes.

Ahhh, a 'shaky way' to make a living!

I loved reading all of your carreers. We dont all have exotic or successful jobs, and there is nothing wrong with that. But, I loved hearing how interesting, intelligent, and diverse you all are.

I am a student in a Masters program for Gastronomy (thats a fancy word for cooking). I have a B.A. in Restaurant and an A.A. Culinary Degree. I have a minor in wine, as well as several wine certificationsl. I also have a minnor in photography, and am currently trying to parle my knowledge of food, wine, and photography into a book I am writing about food and wine. , It has a very Aspie point of view but i make no mention of that.

I have worked in the wine industy, as a chef, and currently as a private chef, though its a little touch and go with clients at the moment, as Im trying to juggle everything on my plate.I make LOTS of LISTS. ha. As far as future career goals. I have lots but it takes alot of effort that i dont always possess.

I would love a combination of IT and writing. I wouldn't dare try to make a living off of writing, but I do think publishing short fiction on the side for a little extra money is possible.

Sadly, due to my challenges it's difficult finding a job. I tried many positions, but they don't work out. In my spare time I have a website, which I blog on a weekly basis. It deals with writing and disabilities. I am a writer, and recently completed a book. Currently, it is being edited and hopefully it would be published soon.

Note: I hope I will become a published author. That is my wish, and wish it will comes true.
