Feeding Wild Rabbits, the Do’s and Don'ts

This info also is useful for donkeys. Donkeys cannot tolerate rich, high protein food (oats, sweet feed, rich Bermuda and rye grasses, etc.) like cattle and horses can. They are desert animals from Africa and live on dry, rough grasses and browse. We give our donkeys rough, low protein hay during winter to supplement what they eat in the pastures. If they eat food that is too rich, they can easily founder and die. If they live through it, they often have permanently messed up hooves. I give them occasional treats like a carrot or apple or a handful of unshelled sunflower seeds to munch on.

New ideas for eradication plans, thank you both.

In the US, wild mustangs and wild donkeys can be pests. Lots of controversy here about what to do about them. Rabbits aren't an issue here, as far as I know.

Here it's only in the cooler regions in the south east that we have trouble with horses and donkeys and they could have been wiped out years ago if it wasn't for a bunch of non drinking non smoking cat loving tree hugging vegans getting in the way. They keep going to court to prevent the culls.

Rabbits are an entirely different story and also a huge food source for cats.

I grew up in Maine and now have settled down in the Appalachian Mountains after living in 9 states plus DC in rural, suburban and urban areas.
My opinion: It’s mind-blowing how many ignorant people are over-populating the world. I wish I could help them understand that unless we humans start handling Earth with loving care, Homo sapiens will become extinct from lack of enough land and/or clean water and/or clean air. (Don’t get me started on AI Data Centers.) Hopefully, animals and plants will survive and thrive.

I spent my life doing R&D for benign technology, but the investors prefer for people to remain wasteful and dependent..
