Vision Issue?

Our 11-year-old daughter has been saying that her vision sometimes zooms in and she sees the "ink spots" that make things up. Instead of seeing a face, she sees all of the small pieces that make up the face. Instead of seeing a door, she sees the tiny dents on the metal of the knob. She also says that this affects numbers more than it affects letters. Reading glasses "make it worse."

Could this be autism related?

Don't know if that accounts for the other details she seems to be focussing on though...

There is a suggestion at the end of that article that often autistic people also have some degree of this face-blindness too..
 
It kinda sounds like a sort of hyper-focus. Like, suddenly you're noticing all the extreme details of objects/textures that for most people are just ignored, and totally focusing on them, overwhelming your ability to process other things.

And yeah, that incredible focus on tiny things can be an autistic trait. For many it's one of those things that leads to meltdowns, as it's just overwhelming. Doesnt have to be just sight either. Can be sound or touch or whatever. Different for each person. It's more than a little annoying.
