Most neurotypical people have no understanding of what it's like to be on the spectrum and there are a lot of assumptions. But to those that have come here looking for help and in an attempt to understand more how to relate to your mate, I think you are great!

I've tried to get my daughter in law to come here to help with some of her struggles because I think it would help a great deal.

But I admire the fact that you care enough and compassionate enough to want to have a better insight and how to help your spouse and yourself with the downfalls and struggles that accompany your relationships.

Thank you for your kind words. NTs come here for many other reasons, too, such as NT parents, children and other relatives, teachers, and friends of people on the spectrum, to name a few. There are so many relationships touched by ASD.

Great post! There have been times that I have seen some NT posters criticized unfairly for asking questions and trying to get an understanding. Hopefully everyone can have some patience for them when they come here to try to learn.

It's true that it's very easy to get frustrated in the NT world, but those that come here seem to be wanting either help to understand or positive advice to help the ASD people in their lives. We've a long way to go before the world is a truly ASD friendly place, but those that come here show that there's hope we'll get there.
