Title: Beyond the Number: What IQ Often Misses

yup. , there I was talking to my friends surgeon,, just prior to surgery . So as he described
what he was going to do , I noted he used the word di-sect ( disect) that part of my friends anatomy to conduct the surgery .. This disturbed me immediately . So I asked don't you mean vivisect ? He did not catch the correction . I definitely stayed around through the end of the surgery. Scarey people

Has anyone tried taking this IQ test?IQ Test Made by Mensa Norway - Mensa Norway What were your results? I'm curious how much your scores differ from those you got when you took IQ tests in person, not online.

133, but that test is only measuring one area of intelligence. People on the spectrum tend to do better with non-verbal tests like that one. Not every person on the spectrum is like this, but it's a common trait.

A reliable, clinically administered IQ test like the WAIS covers a range of abilities like short term memory, visual-spatial skills, reasoning ability, verbal intelligence and processing speed. Many people on the spectrum show uneven scores on tests like the WAIS instead of a narrow test of ability like the Mensa Norway test.

Last time I was assessed during my diagnosis about 2 decades ago (with the WAIS-3), my scores varied greatly.

In my family three of us applied for Mensa membership, only one passed the NT brother. My other brother and I have abilities that the test cannot capture life experience shows this. Our experience shows this test is for NT's not for us on the spectrum. For me every question has answers that are not on the choice list 5 choices how about three or four not included on the test equally valid wrong just for not being an option.

I wouldn’t draw general conclusions, because I’ve seen examples of people with autism who didn’t score very high, even though they picked things up instantly. I myself also can’t boast of getting high scores on this test.

The last time I wrote a BS type test I got 133. got 95 percentile on sat test in High school. so they sort of correlate. My brother wrote same sat test at same time we were 1 percentile apart, He is considered exceptional even among fellow Mensa members.

A lot of us have abilities not easily measured on teasts designed for NT's. After all how would you test a fishes tree cimbing ability if test is designed for climbing a tree.

IQ tests can tell us some things but not everything. I have a very wide IQ scatter with my highest score being 132 and my lowest 82. what does that say about the test? what does that say about me? I can tell you that (anecdotally) when walking through the world and talking to people I notice I am often smarter than them. I make connections they cannot and connections they can I make faster. I am able to take in a synthesize information quickly. my brain moves fast and it's always hungry for information. on the other hand, tasks that involve me interfacing with real life often confound me. they are not intuitive and take me longer to process. once I am clearly told what to do I am a quick learner but I still need hand-holding at first. I will note that everyone who has tested me has noted that all my scores are probably higher due to some motor skill issues and good old anxiety I am not the best IQ test taker but I think the general pattern of strengths and weakness still stands (and they agree).

Beyond three sigma definitely an anomaly. 45 points is three sigma 50 points is beyond this.

yes I know, it's been honestly quite the barrier in my life. I have found a couple people online (mostly via blogs) who have a similar scatter but it's hard to find people. it's incredibly difficult to describe what it feels like to be in my head. so I guess in that way IQ tests are quite helpful, on the other hand it just makes it clear to others how confusing my mind is. I wish people with large scatters had more resources they could be pointed towards or even just an explanation, but alas...

SO on the issue of IQ and intelligence, And much younger girl friend of mine , whom came to me as the granddaughter of a older freindnemy. Whom, we just had a thing for halloween decor / fringer of Gothicness. Long since the Frenemy Grandmother dhowed true colours , And that relationship had misfortunate ending. Thank Gawd. But the Granddaughter had been warned of the Grandmother previously by her father. So Friendship intact. She worked for Spirit Halloween division of Spencers Gifts,Upper management liked her.Very much. ( Honest). So she told me of her early schooling. They had tested her in grade school . Held her back a year, with agreement of her father. After they did IQ tests. So after I got to know her, noticed clearly,That she was able to hold multiple concepts in her head at once with No problems . Had great manual dexterity .
They even had her in a special school. Then she asked me to teach her how to solder circuits . (Not someone with low IQ) She picked it up in a three hour session with me.
Spirit halloween wanted her to do managerial position. (Salaried job) Set pay for however many hours they want from you.( Its a trick) you get title but put in many free hours for company. And told her so. So they agreed to assistant manager in order to keep her on. staff . They have her doing manager at 3-4 different stores . directing set of interior displays. Per their requests , But getting full hourly pay😁 . This girl now woman, Was borderline Genious, if not plain brilliant .She builds Halloween displays and props , Integrates animatronics. Buy peoples display props out of season second. hand. can restore them now. If your ever in Kansas City during Halloween . Her walk through display
Is one of the top three displays in Missouri . Notwithstanding the three professional Haunted houses. In the Bottoms area of K.C. that charge like 15-20 bucks each to walk through. In the weeks before and after Halloween. And her display still gives out candies diabetic included to Trick or treaters.but requests a donation of any amount ,if you can offer it. not required. . This was was absolutely organic developed hobby//not quite business out of her own brain..But inspite of her setbacks. She is extremely Aspie like in her manifestations, But will not deal with it due to the ingrained stigmas,by types of mentalities of the people she grew up with. The health meltdowns due to her day time job
as assistant manger of ground transportation operations at the International Airport there.
Drains her completely with the degree of masking , I watch her going through it . But Midwestern types association Autism still with concepts of severe mental Retardation of the entire brain.IMHO
