String theory or special relativy/quantum physics? (That's the first thing that came to my mind... Maybe I am a bit weird)
 
Quantum Physics (I won't pretend to know what it is, I simply like the word quantum and the word string makes me think of cheese strings which I don't like!)

I know nobody with a basement either, but I've been in basements and they are the place I could live forever more. As long as the building is not on a flood plain, and well built to have good flood defences... or I would have to improve my swimming skills first....
