The last thing you bought?

Last thing I bought that wasn’t technically a gift from someone was Shantae Advance…crazy to think it was that long ago with the preorder and all. Good game, like the series, especially collecting special editions like this with gold cartridge, but unsure how I feel supporting this series going forward if they work with LRG exclusively for physical copies anymore. Part of the problem for sure but I only heard very negative things come out about the company after and it made things like delays and using faulty product at premium pricing inexcusable to me after this.

Last thing I bought was a couple cans of Pringles. They have "Hot Ones" branded flavors now and some are really good. I picked them up at Walgreens of all places when picking up my meds for the month, but I never see these flavors at the regular supermarket.

My next purchase will probably be the game Little Nightmares III when it releases in a few days.

Had no luck finding used in my size, so I bought new. I am going to back country tent solo this winter and I am finding my way to a frozen waterfall. @WhitewaterWoman I'm challenging you to whatever level of winter hiking is safely sustainable for you because you're tough stuff. 💪

I’m not tough. The only snow I’ve seen in 40 years was this spring in the Swiss mountains.

I’ve done snow shoeing. It takes huge amounts of energy. Why aren’t you cross country skiing?

It’s the sustained forward motion that gives stability in XC skis.

I could not walk 50 yards without becoming short of breath on snow shoes.

It's the falling over 5x in a row before I get moving that dials the frustration up on me.

Truly not kidding about the balance issues.

If I try out snowshoeing and it turns out it is beyond what my heart can handle, well, I have the satisfaction of having given it my best shot and I'll sell the shoes and move on to the next activity. Not trying will eat at me worse than failing ever does.

I used to go snowshoeing. It is exhausting to walk with your feet two feet apart for every step. I also used to cross country ski and was very good at it, but then I moved away from snow and wasn't able to pursue it anymore. X-country skiers are incredibly fit, more so than downhill skiers. What I loved about x-country skiing was the freedom - that I could go up or down mountains - unlike downhill skiing which limits you to riding the lift to the top of mountain and following the herd down the manicured slopes. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah, there is that learning curve.

I know.

That was my attitude toward my canoe trip this past summer. I support it 100%.

Ordered a decent hard shell for winter hiking. Good breathability and large pit zips for active heat control (I need to control sweating).

I worked in a company that made survival packs for aircraft. They would not use Gore-tex. They said it was good in moderate conditions, but would easily frost over and stop breathing.

Ice because my electric refrigerator is out of order. I've poured rock salt over it and that's keeping my food cold.

It's reliable down to about -10C, especially the hybrid formula that TNF uses. I would not wear this in -25C, I have different jackets for that. I also wouldn't solo hike in the mountains at -25C, I'll stick to the walking trails in town when it's that cold.
