Term for being able to observe your thoughts and what you observe?

I am in the research stage of my diagnosis, I am at this point only self diagnosed, but looking if I can find an assessor that would be able to assess an adult I will go ahead with it.

The more I read the more high functioning autism seems to fit me, I am now looking to see what the term for being able to observe what I am thinking and observe, and what others experience with this is.

Thank You all for your time

I think the term you are looking for is self reflection. High functioning autism is kinda misleading since a high functioning person, with autism is no less autistic, rather the ability to seem like there autistic. It's I'm important to remember that no matter how well an autistic person passes as a non autistic, it never becomes natural to them.

Not sure what you mean exactly by observing what you are thinking. Do you mean literally see pictures or like a movie in your head about which you are thinking, or objectively self analyzing your thoughts as they happen?
