Teenage daughter wants nothing to do with me

Good morning Tom. I really do enjoy your attitudes and replies and I agree. Especially in today's world where it is so easy to not - every child today should appreciate that they're even alive.
But this is a very common stage that most teens or adolescents go through. Three out of four of mine were nightmares and it felt more like a war during those years, but I never gave up on them. I may have been harsh with a few of my actions trying to get things back in control, and I really did talk to some people in the police department and with juvenile justice and they informed me that there was nothing I could do. It was illegal to kick them out until they were 18, yet they could leave if they wanted and they could do what they wanted and there was nothing I could do. Sad thing is, my son knew this. He's the one who first told me and as things got worse I learned it to be true. It IS a horrible thing to go through, especially when you're alone raising them and doing everything you can for them. But in your heart you know it will end (as long as everyone gets through it alive lol) and they do later realize all you've done for them and love you for it.
And as a mother, you need all the encouragement you can get. Because at that age being born and raised and taken care of has nothing to do with anything - and probably there is some teacher out there reminding them that legally we have to take care of them so we can scratch that off the list of things to be appreciated for.
 
May I add to watch for other signs. Very often drinking and drugs are playing a role in the changed attitudes.
