Thank youYou will do fine grommet, big breaths.
Remember that it's always okay to ask for help. One thing I have done is tell the bus driver that I need to get off the bus at Market Street but the route is new for me, so could he call out just before we come to Market Street? This is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
And if you do overshoot your stop - you can always just backtrack and try again, or walk to the missed stop if it isn't far.
Good luck, you have done some good planning, that helps. I hope your shopping goes well. You are brave to do this!
Omg- l get that. So l like to sit near the front so l .can read the signs. The other thing, is l check what streets come up in front of my stop. When you see those, you know you should start heading to exit.
Thank you
I am home now. The trip went well. The first bus ride was easy once we started. It went quickly. I did my shopping.
I got lost going home. I went around a few times but could not find the bus. I used Apple Maps again and it told me what street to go to for the bus stop. It was still hard to find but I did. Then a bus came that was not the same as the one I rode. It was familiar so I asked the driver. He said he was not going my way but the other bus would stop there.
Only a minute later my bus arrived and I was so relieved. The driver was nice but the passengers were worrisome. One man seemed to have mental problems and called me "Professor". When I did not talk to him he started calling me "Jew!" and saying "Be careful of the man in the wheelchair he is a molester. Protect your children he is a molester!" I looked away. He got off after a few stops. Some other people came on board that were awkward and there was traffic but the I had told the driver my stop and after a long while we got there without trouble.
I am a bit shaken but happy I think. It feels like if I have Apple Maps then all I have to do is tell it where I want to go and follow the directions. If that is true then the world has opened up for me but I did get lost find the bus stop home.
Maybe it will get easier but I have always wanted a machine to just tell me what to do. It was something I imagined, like a computer in science fiction you could ask things. I guess that is something we have now with our phones. It was yesterday when a woman taught me how to do this.

It sounds like you did great! You had a few obstacles on the way back home, but you didn't panic and you got through. The most important thing you did was not panicking. You should feel.good about that.
Grommet, show her the response on your phone. You don't have to speak if you cannot at that time. Horrid that she tried to make it cost more. You've done okay.
