Subliminals?

I think my brain exploded and is oozing out my ears after reading this thread. Not because of the bra and boob stuff. The subliminal stuff. Oozy brain. Oozy brain.

It is sad to think that so many subliminal suggestions put forth have a common denominator of monetary gain.

@mysterionz thanks for posting about this and bringing it to peoples attention.

I see the subliminal messages thing all the time IRL, con artists using it a lot, like

"When you invest your money with us, you'll get a higher rate...."
"When you invest your money with us, you'll get a higher rate..."

I have a strange urge to give you money now, where should I send the money to invest? Do you take a check? ;) :D

Okay, I walk in here, click on what seems like an innocent thread title, and...

...what even is this? What's happening here?

Subliminal messages definitely work, but it's more in plain-sight than you'd think. Advertising, imagery, logos, designs and things like that are kind of praying on that primitive part of your brain and making you think and feel certain ways about products, fast food chains, and all sorts of other things (some are darker - think of historical figures who have had easily-recognizable symbolism and how far it got them).

As for binaural beats, people chanting phrases in your ear and stuff like that? That's just delusional, lol.
I did a (admittedly quite humble) study at University on binaural beats. The outcome? Well unsurprisingly, nothing statistically relevant occurred when people listened to binaural beats. It's just a psychoacoustic phenomenon that occurs due to the way our brains perceive the directionality of sound.

I also had to research similar things like guided meditations and self hypnosis. All have dubious efficacy. Cool bit of trivia, the reason why they put warnings in at the beginning of self hypnosis tapes/CDs is because it makes people believe it must work. So the power of suggestion begins before you've even started the "hypnosis session". Another bit of trivia is that most studies on "mindfulness" and "guided meditations" etc base their results on "self reporting" rather than more concrete measurements, such as ECGs, cortisol tests etc.

Basically if you believe it, you will believe it worked. If you are skeptical, it likely won't do anything for you.

I was disappointed, I really hoped there was something to binaural beats, but it seems there's not.

I think the world is just falling apart, so many people are getting weirder and weirder. Tattoing eyeballs, removing ribs, I saw a guy who removed his nose :fearscream: How did all this madness start?
From the ego that wants to be outstandingly different and earn their 15 mins. of notoriety fame? :screamcat:

Hmm... I think I might've figured out how to make subliminal messages here, too. Although if you're using dark reader right now you have X-ray vision!
