Strange memories

Every man must walk his own path

I have always been kind of a bookworm and been real good at remembering what I read. People I know marvel at some of the obscure facts I can remember, but this has stumped me.

When I was 19, me and a few buddies were sitting around drinking Budweiser beer. During this little celebration I recited the ribbon on the can. I am now 45, have not drank a Budweiser in 25 years ( I'm into dark beer), and to this day I can still recite the ribbon on the can. Are any of you able to remember useless facts like that?

Mostly songs from my childhood, names and trivial facts. It's indeed the useless facts that I always remember. Comes with the territory from what I've heard. ;)

Yes, indeed, and they pop into my consciousness at random times, making me feel like my brain is sort of having practice runs for its life flashing before its eyes.

... practice runs for its life flashing before its eyes.

I was just thinking about that!

How do we know we are not experiencing our life again before we die, after all, it ends in death. Maybe that's deja vu?

Back on track, I have many strange memories... a little too strange

I remember being bathed as an infant in a yellow plastic dishpan in the kitchen sink.
I remember the day I got switched from diapers to baby rubber panties.
I remember the fleur-de-lis pattern inside my stroller.
I remember learning to talk-- concrete words first, then abstract concepts later. I remember trying to generalize with words.

My strangest memories are always weird dreams I had as a kid. Probably at the top of that list is a man bent over as a leprechaun puts gears in his butt, as if the man was actually a robot and his rear needed an overhaul. XD

Omega - glad to hear you have gone over to the 'dark side' :) - me too.

I have a reputation as being an endless source of useless information.

I also have many memories from 'very' early in my life such as
- Choosing my stroller. I chose the one with green & yellow panels.
- Being toilet trained and put onto the potty to wait and see what happened . I would shuffle around the floor following the action while nothing was imminent.
- Being on my grandmothers lap in a park in a baby wrap & crying. Spooky I know, but I remember it.

In my struggle keep that in mind yet not continuously beat myself black and blue, sometimes I consider the fantasy-possibility that my body is a sort of chrysallis. I don't actually believe it, but it gives a way for memories to be processed. I see the memories, so the visual construction works for my particular kind of brain. Not sure where I got that idea, so if I am failing to credit a source, tell me.

I'm good at remembering songs from childhood which I haven't heard for years, but they have to start first for me to remember all the lyrics.

"It's lamenated- in plastic!" -Wally Cleaver, "Leave It To Beaver".....early 60s.

Nuff said. :p
