Still struggling On Job Search

Hi, if I were to ask myself how I’ve been doing well not too great as I’m still trying to gain employment again 4 months later. I’ve had several interviews 3-4 the past month and they all went horrible with rejections. I had one for a watershed analyst, a sanitarian and just recently as of yesterday as wastewater operator which I got a rejection via email this afternoon. Every interview I’ve had I prepare myself by making bullet points, creating stories of experience I have related to the job I’m interviewing for even had a couple in person mock interviews but anytime I go to the interview I keep freezing up, take long pauses in between thoughts or even gets to where I’m having trouble expressing my thoughts verbally that it’s sooo embarrassing that I’ve had a few depression episode to the point I’m not wanting to do another interview again. I’ve been getting to where I’ve been having to use a resource in my state known as vocational rehabilitation services where I have a career coach helping me out in my interviews and after working with the individual for a few days I feel it is helping such as trying to being more articulate and communicate more clearly. I am a bit ashamed to even take that route but I need any help that I can get. I wish employers can just look past the social abnormalities during a 30 minute interview as I personally don’t believe it measures your whole personality and what you can do on the job especially for neurodivergents.

If you need to conquer that part of your life, interview techniques and presenting yourself in a more polished way, then you just gotta do it. I think a lot of us here have the same uphill battle with interviews. You aren't alone.

I feel for you have been to hundreds of interviews over the years. my best luck was with positions where my xperience exactly matched what they were looking for. I always kept in back of my mind who my competition is. never allowed my level of education drop lower than any possible competition, between positions as I knew future competition would not put the time in.

I am also struggling with job hunting rn, so i understand you. I have not been in many interviews before since i never worked in a big company, so it stresses me out also

I spent a lot of time seeking out which companies could use some one with my skill level , got one position after reading a trade magazine saw article stated I was who they wanted for what they were planning on doing, Another position I got doing a lab at night school my lab partner knew of an opening at her company, she passed on my resume as some body had retired. So you have to go out side the box We Are not NT so do not follow their rules make your own path.

Maybe you can find a way around the interviews? To me it seems quite absurd to interview someone and require large interpersonal skills for the positions you applied for. Maybe it's not you that is the problem? Maybe they aren't looking for anyone to hire in the first place and need to do a certain number of interviews to keep up with formalities? Do you know potential routes of hiring without going through the whole process, perhaps you know someone who values your skills, reliability and can get them help you get hired? Tell them what the problem is and perhaps they will do the talking for you.

It could be that companies just don’t want to hire but I received fa call for another job I interviewed for and I was told they decided to go into another direction.

I am pretty much thinking about starting small business or be self employed as I have some ideas. I like to do art and photography so maybe I can earn income something from my passion with that?
