Sorting Smarties...

My boss reads Lucy Wainwright's Twitter feed, and he sent me this funny post to which I think many of us can probably relate:

"@Whoozley: I want Smarties but am going into the office & am incapable of eating Smarties without first sorting by colour so will look mad. Dilemma."

I didn't know there were different candies called 'Smarties.'

The candy in Post#2 look like generic M & Ms, not at all like
the Smarties I ate when I was a child. The fun part of
Smarties was how smooth they were, the indentation on
both sides where you put your thumb & pointer finger,
holding them that way to rub the indentation.

I had some sweets as a child that had similar characteristics to those of the smarties you describe, the were called Parma Violets. They were very small, roughly the same diameter as a generic M&M, from what I remember. Their flavour was odd, a floral-fragrancy-type, but they were sweet, so still got eaten.

I love sorting things. I'd sort the whole universe if given enough time....and oven mitts that can handle suns and super novas. Maybe I'll have to wait for super novas to cool down first. I'd store everything in neatly labeled black holes.

I've never seen made-in-Canada-American-Smarties. The correct name for them here is Rockets.

The chocolate Smarties are what is offered in Canada for certain, and possibly in other countries. Yes, they really just are thinner M&Ms.

This was the same name me knowing the non chocolate ones named as Rockets. I don't know they can go by other names until tree wrote her comment.
