Sneezes

This is autism related because it's about if other people's sneezes startle you.
I'm often very startled by sneezes and I get so embarrassed about it. But some people's sneezing can make an 'uncanny' sort of noise that my brain cannot register at first so my nerves come into play and I jump.

Some people's sneezes sound like a loud dog barking, and they just happen without any warning - like a dog barking. Some people, particularly men, go WAAAAAAAAAAAAASHOOO!!!!!!! and those are the most startling.
I sneeze a lot due to irritable sinus syndrome but my sneezes start with a deep breath and they're not that annoying to hear. They are often hefty and can make me shout them out but they go like "ha-ticsoo!" like a standard sneeze really. I don't think I've ever made anyone jump with my sneezes.
Some people do like 50 sneezes, like hiccups. That gets on my nerves after a while. I usually just do one, or if I'm having a really bad sinus attack then I do two or three, very close to each other where I can't get enough breath between sneezes.

Anyway what are your experiences with sneezing. Do other people's sneezes startle you too?

Unfortunately I’m one of those girls that sneeze like a man loll. And I have a lot of allergies. So sorry people! But they do startle me. don’t worry, it startles a lot of people too

I try to suppress them, and that makes them worse. And they always seem to come in pairs, never just one on it's own.

Sneezing doesn't startle me but whenever I hear someone cough I think "covid" and become uneasy, even though they could be coughing for many other and slightly less less fatal reasons.

Much of any loud, sudden noise startles me. Especially sounds on both the very low and very high ends of the hertz range.

And small children who suddenly decide they need to scream at the top of their lungs. Lucky I haven't ended up leaping through a store roof with such happenings.

I think sneezes are cute.

But high decibel alarms or sirens really hurt my ears. My hearing is very sensitive. I often discover I am talking in sort of a whisper, just because loud sounds sort of hurt.

Depends on who is doing it.

Like, when my mom does that, it is LOUD. It's not like "achoo", it's more like !!!HYAAAAA-BLERGOIFDSGOH!!!

A bit too noisy, it does bug me a bit, but... not something she has much control over, so I dont usually react to it.

As for myself, it doesnt happen particularly often and mine arent any louder than a cough. But if you shine a bright light in my face I will promptly have a sneezing fit that'll be like 5 in a row, so there's that.
