I believe in what there is evidence for. There is clear evidence for what the beginning of our universe is like. I'm interested in learning even more and I'm up to date with any news on this topic. The attitude to look at evidence only is what has advanced science and technology so far.
I think, however, that science doesn't have to conflict with religion. Science tells us about the material world, religion explores meaning and purpose. It often speaks in metaphors and parallels - in a metaphorical sense or in a way understandable for our ancestors, it does tell how the world was created, but in terms of meaning, not accurate data. The creation of "night and day" means the creation of time, for example, and it didn't last a 24 hour long Earth's day. It's not a literal description, but a metaphorical one.
Also there is the question of spiritual experiences people have - I think it's a part of human experience. And paranormal phenomena - not everything is known to science yet either. In my opinion, ghosts might be suggestion and psychological phenomena, but it doesn't make them not matter from a life experience standpoint. A lot of things that don't "really" exist matter. Impressions. Money. Memories. Experiences. Cultural context. It's also how our minds work that they give a personification to things and phenomena. It's the same as religion by and large, it might be a set of cognitive distortions and feeling things not yet discovered by science, but that don't neccesarily have a soul or free will, but spirituality looks for meanings and influence on us as people, not how it works in very detail.
