Riddles

Edit (subject, pronoun mixup):

Next riddle:

Ariel my friend loves running races,
I am often sad as I come in 2nd places.
"I often say, why do you place always before ol' Buttercup me ?"
She says, "you should not have it before you, you see "
"Then you will win more and break free."

What is it?

Tip 1: It will be helpful to know who or what is racing as that will make the " it " much easier to answer.

It makes me think of the poem "Ariel" by Sylvia Plath. 🤔 Which I'm sure is way off the mark, I really am terrible at solving riddles. :)

Good try, but no. The names given sound like something, and there is a word or two in the riddle that could lead someone to what or who was racing too.

How did the names fit in?
Buttercup and Ariel were actually choices for names of horses on a video game for Barbie. Those names sound like possible names for horses too, though Ariel is a name for a female too. Other racetrack terms in the riddle were running, races, place, and break free.

Ok. I would have never recognized that. I never owned a barbie doll much less played any barbie video games.

I understand. Never owned Barbies either. Bought such a video game for a young relative longer ago and they needed our help to figure it out.

If anyone has a new riddle, feel free to post as we are out of town picking up our son now from his 2 hour chess meeting . It would be hard to reply soon as 90 minute drive back.

Part of me you eat; part of me you wear.
Down in the south I am everywhere.
What am I ?

When you say south, are we talking global or local? i.e. south of your land, or just south generally anywhere?
(i.e. is it cultural?)
