Resident Evil IX: Revenant Shadows

This is seemingly just a placeholder or rumour that has recently appeared on Play Asia, but I have no reason to doubt it's fake. But respected leaker "Dusk Golem" has giving his thoughts about it on X all the same.

Sony has their State of Play at 11 PM for British viewers tonight. Although I doubt Capcom will show any RE content just now, however. This is because Konami has their showcase coming up to cover the Silent Hill franchise. So it's likely Capcom is gonna be smart and wait until June.

But Leon is the star again, huh?

Another action-horror yarn awaits gamers. Boo! :P

I'll have to agree that this is about egging both hype and money for something that will not be anything like people expect of it.

I've already said it in another thread. The AA and AAA gaming scene is dead, as far as I am consurned. This is just to feed off the guliable and lemmings that open thier wallets, without questioning anything. (Taking similar wording to what Misery said before)

It's a waste of breath, at this point, to boo or complain about everything that is or isn't happening. Then going to the next thing to find more of the same. Nothing is getting better. So let's stop pretending it will.

They certainly scammed people with that RE2 OST nonsense. The tracks just briefly play, and the soundtrack doesn't even suit the 2019 re-imagining. The mood is all off, to be honest.

Sorry, but modern day Capcom are awful. They have always been money hungry, but the fan appraisal just encourages them to do so. And they ruin the storylines, etc.

Even with Konami, they are not especially brilliant either. They have changed Maria's clothing for some reason. Otherwise, meh. I'm actually tired of hearing about remakes of horror games I enjoyed over 20 years ago, or whatever.

Go woke, ya get broke.

@thejuice

Yeah. That's Konami that does that. Not that I really even mess with that stuff.

Don't konami make panchinko machines nowadays or is that someone else

After they fell out with Hideo Kojima, the company "revamped" and focused on mobile gaming and pachinkos for a while. Later on, they claimed gaming for them has never changed.

This is more like a "Capcom sucks balls" thread, so I may as well mention all of their recent screw-ups. I hope you don't mind.

RE2 and 3. We will start there...

:D

Leon Kennedy looks like a soy boy, Twilight oriented type, Justin Bieber sort. Horrible, horrible redesign. The way he interacts with Claire at the fence is just... my God. Pure cheese.

"Uh... just... surviving!" So, so deadpan.

Claire's jacket doesn't look right, but her redesign is okay otherwise.

The weapons just feel like ass. They are like toys in how they sound and feel. Because zombies used to split in half if you used a shotgun and they could crawl along the floor to pursue biting your leg. That felt so peachy. Just blasting away. Magnum shots used to provide a satisfying slaying. Not anymore.

The story was ruined. Characters like Robert Kendo received more sentimental storylines. Why? He was a confused sounding gun store owner who was just supposed to get munched on after the undead break the window. Uh. And he has a Chinese looking kid who is infected in the remake, who he kills out of sight. Again... why? :p

Cut content is a huge problem. The Plant 43s AKA Ivys (more like a fan name, but I am not sure) are not the same kind as the original game depicts. Spiders and crows are gone, as is the big moth in the lab, and a few other enemy types. At least the gator wasn't removed. They also repeat cutscenes and the opening has both heroes entering the gas station.

Everything looks so damn dark. :(

OK. Now RE3. But I have to keep it short, as the faults are certainly plentiful in this lockdown era trash pile.

Raccoon City is linear, with babyish puzzles.

The dead factory was replaced with a generic 'NEST 2' lab part. The last boss fight is just laughable. Jill uses a huge lazer gun thing. Looks really sexual, and her attitude is annoying.

Brad does not get owned by Nemesis. He gets shot by Carlos instead as a zombie.

Nemesis is mostly in scripted segments. Barely really a boss, but you normally just throw a grenade to stun him. And he can be like Batman and shoot up through your roofing. So um, yeah. He is awful, and he mutates too soon.

Cut enemies. The worm thing is not in this travesty of a remake.

Areas that you went into like the clock tower, the park, the dead factory and the petrol station are now just used as backdrops or outright not in the game.

Barry Burton is not in any ending. That's sad, as his ending on the chopper was always intended as the canon one. I believe so, at least.

The end theme is for metal lovers. Like, eh?

I could go on and on about RE7 being a TCM clone with a faceless protagonist and a really dumb looking backwoods family, or how RE8 is a corny fantasy game with Silent Hill rip-off vibes and so on, but I don't want a wall of text to melt your retinas.

But anyway...

You can see the points I made, however. Capcom in 2024, are just lame as hell. They only care about your cash. ;)
