That link is for a first edition US. Worth considerably more than the one I am buying. :P However, the one I'm buying is valued around $700, so $395 is a really good deal. I may also buy 4 volumes authored by Thomas H. Huxley for $125 as well!
 
So, are you a "collector" of some kind? That book seems pretty interesting since it`s old. I like old things and antique. But I still would`t call that cheap... But yeah. cheaper than $700 anyway. How much is that in euros, by the way?

First off: awesome find, congratulations. :D its not everyday you find a true treasure like that. Would have been cooler if you would have found it in a thrift store or something and got it for $1 though. Some guy found an original copy of the Declaration of Independence in a thrift for like $9. Its worth like $40 billion.

As a bit of a collector myself, I do need to give you a word of caution though: if you collect things with the intention of putting them on Ebay, etc, listen up. A lot of things are "valued" at a certain price. However, these book prices really are not that reliable. There are so many factors that come into play here. First, you have to consider the number of collectors. I think you are probably fine with books, but I know other more obscure stuff is far harder to find a market for. Then it will be: how desirably is this item among collectors? You may find that your is considered valuable, but not being sought after at this time, so practically worthless. That's happened to me with coins before. Then it will come down to how much those collectors will actually pay for it. And this is the biggest issue of all out of those "value books" because an item is really actually only worth as much as someone will pay for it. I've also had this issue with coins. Getting top dollar can be very difficult.

Anyway, just something to consider... and probably unneeded rambling.
 
Cool find!!! Make damn sure it's a complete copy before you lay your money down; I once made the mistake of buying a collectible volume only to find several pages were missing once I got it home, grrrrr. And if you're gonna be keeping it amongst your other books check it thoroughly for worms and mites.
