Reading Wikipedia Articles

Anyone just go on Wikipedia only to look at random things? In other words, do you go there to look up stuff just for the fun of it?

Yup... did that quite often. But then again, in times before wiki, as a kid I'd grab a random book from the encyclopedia my parents owned and just read that for fun as well.

Quite often on wikipedia I read up on things, click on the next random hyperlink within the article I was reading and go on like that, reading vaguely connected articles for a while.

Recently I'm not doing that a lot anymore; I don't have either the interest, focus or time for it (even without a job my day only has 24 hours, heh).

The "random article" button on wikipedia is good fun sometimes.

It's fun to look up some things for stuff I may not know, until I read the article. It is always good to know as much as I can get on Wikipedia. The world is so big, there's so much to learn and share!

All the time and for hours on end. Same as King_Oni above I also would read encyclopedias back in the old days for fun as well. I'd borrow them from one set of my aunts and uncles. I don't borrow them anymore but I do have a bunch of reference books on various subjects, almanacs, all sorts of various informational books really, and I read them all the time still.

If anyone has ever seen the movie Short Circuit, I feel like the robot character #5/Johnny 5 when he gets books, reads them super fast, and says "ahhhhhhh" except of course I don't read them as fast. I cannot absorb enough information. It's an addiction really, a full blown, raging addiction. Passes the time well though, especially when I'm experiencing my frequent (seems like all the time) bouts of insomnia. Also provides good reading material for when in the bathroom.

I always learn for the fun of it, but it's almost never too random.
Being able to use information I have to have existing basis for knowledge of that field. Of course I'd like to be all around wise, but am not. I have a bad habit reading related and then some what related and soon not at all related articles when doing study assignment and return to those topics afterwards. I take more pleasure of relevant information, which in some cases could be considered far random, but for me has to be related to an extent.

Random article seldom has anything interesting to offer, too bad. Great that it works for you :>

That seems to always happen to me. That what makes the site great.

One time I read every single page on the 'list of legendary creatures by type' on wikipedia. I also develop little mini zoological obsessions from time to time and for a few weeks I'll be all about chelicerates or onychophorans or something, and wikipedia is very helpful for those times.

I think the last thing that I just got very interested in and read a whole bunch of wiki pages for was learning all the different pacman ghosts' names, stories, and gameplay

Yes I go to Wikipedia a lot for random things from movies to history about the dolls I collect and sometimes mythology aswell.
