Question if too much porn is related to lack of social skills, sexual delusions and paraphilias

Fantasies are not the same as realities, however. Research also shows that even when women feel equally or more dominant in a relationship, they are still more likely to be the sufferer of abuse in imbalanced relationships, where men even when they feel a lack of power are much less likely to suffer violence, control or coercion or enforced isolation.

You really only need to look at statistics overall too, to see this is the case, and historically has been so. It's hard though to work on these inequalities without some troubles and distress for any gender, but mutual blaming isn't the best way forward. Educating young men and women and helping to support them to understand constructive ways forward in relating, based on research and experience, is a way forward, for example.
What I stated was objective empirical statistic (as much as I hate stringing those 3 words together). It doesn't say anything about who's to blame for what.

That is a fallacy. At one time, yes, they made money. Now it's just very little money, woman have been raped, and can't press charges. Mass production on grand level with the woman signing away all their rights. In fact, Hugh Hefner recorded woman at the mansion, and behind their backs (or on their backs) sold all the photos and rights to dot com porn sites. Because once the porn sites came online, the magazine lost huge amounts of money to the sites. And a lot of woman had no idea their pictures were at these sites.

I think both can be true here. I have heard of the situations you have described,...so no argument there. Since this thread started, I have been doing some research into the "how's" and "why's" of this topic. There have been a number of national news pieces on the pandemic, job loss, and the rise in "working from home" using "creator content" websites like YouTube, TikTok, OnlyFans,...and even sites like Pornhub and Chaterbate. Some,...some people are making tens of thousands of dollars per month if they have regular subscribers and can make additional money with adds. Now, granted most are not making that kind of money, but certainly enough to supplement their income in a meaningful way. I am thinking that with most of this type of porn,...I think, especially the women, know that there may be some power in taking money from lonely men from the safety of their own home and from behind a computer screen. With these more recent developments in the industry, I am also thinking that although some of what you describe is still going on, the industry model, as a whole, is changing. Sure, there are professional porn production companies with people on contract,...and some of those people do live quite a lavish lifestyle,...millionaires,...fancy cars and huge houses. However,...and as you suggest,...some lesser "producers" may be taking advantage and exploiting some people,...and not to mention those who are victims of human trafficking,...that element, I suspect, is there, as well. I don't want to get into the psychology or reasons why people put themselves in these situations or what the long-term psychological, interpersonal, professional, financial, and physical outcomes are,...I am sure it's a potential mess in some cases.

It's a convoluted topic with a rich human history, plenty of controversy, taboo, personal tragedy,...and yet, in this age of internet content, appears to be changing in ways that I have only the knowledge to "scratch the surface". I cannot suggest whether it is becoming better or worse,...but the porn industry is changing. I understand your points and perspective,...you've made that clear and I respect it. I just think there is much more to it than either of us really know.

The best analogy I can think of right now is looking at how ride-sharing companies like Uber have impacted the taxi cab industry,...and in a few years,...robo-taxi and air-taxi services will change it again. Creator content is impacting the porn industry in a similar fashion. People can produce their own content in the safety of their own home, and in some cases,...do make a significant amount of money.

If human trafficking has passed drug trafficking, l don't need to make any points clearer. @Neonatel RRT

Yes, there are plenty of men happy with internet activities but there are 50-75 lined up for the physical and that is capitalized on by predatory types.

Point taken. Which may partially explain why men in Reno are willing to risk criminal penalties when they could go a few minutes down the freeway and find what they want all quite legally in Storey County.

Legal brothels here operate no differently than other businesses who maintain codes of conduct and prohibit unruly customers. In this regard I can see the more abusive types more than willing to risk the consequences of illegal prostitution given their own criminal intent.

Your point made. I agree with you. I have to take courses in recognizing human trafficking before I can renew my license each time. Michigan, where I live, with borders with Canada,...is a huge thoroughfare for traffickers,...including my home town,...it's in the news quite frequently. Although there is that element there of human trafficking,...people being forced into sex work and exploited,...there is little evidence that this is what makes up the majority of "mainstream" internet porn,...the primary topic of this discussion. Although men do make up some 70% of porn viewing,...and likely more than that of sex worker clientele,...and yes, we can agree that some of these men are true predators that need to burn in Hell. In other words,...I do understand there is some crossover with the porn industry and human trafficking,...like a Venn diagram,...however, the primary focus of my perspectives have been on the effects of porn, as a whole,...and not the "underground, fringe, criminal exploitation" of young people.

I get the sense that we may be talking past each other on this topic,...as I seem to be agreeing with you a lot here,...we are not arguing at all. I do think I am presenting some other perspectives though.:)

What my point was that the availability of porn on the internet gives men the false belief that woman are offering it up even off the internet. Men becomed jaded in their thinking, the more socially maljusted male who can't understand why he can't have a sexual relationship with a female. We may encountered some of those on this site. I myself have had educated well-off men harass me as a senior citizen. They think my older age makes me desperate because they can see whatever they want on the internet. Men are more primitive when it comes to sex. You yourself maybe a intelligent highly functional social male, but you may not represent the masses. That's a compliment so don't PM with scathing remarks. Lol

I think what is shocking to me is the income generated. So if you are an attractive female, you may be preyed upon because someone has decided they could make a lot of money using your particular body type or face or both. It's frightening if you are targeted specifically for this thru no fault of your own.

Tragically something made abundantly clear for those of us who watched A&E's "Secrets of Playboy". The life of publisher Hugh Hefner and his "playboy" lifestyle might have been one man's personal fantasy, but for many beautiful women it turned out to be a profound nightmare of shattered dreams and aspirations.

A discovery that Hugh Hefner operated much more like Jeffrey Epstein, but with an entire corporate network to "sanitize" any perception of wrongdoing. Even while at times law enforcement had him under investigation.

Thank you for understanding. I have stepped in many minefields and said no thanks. I don't need that notoriety. ;)

Good analogy- a "minefield". Scenarios that may appear to be relatively benign, but which in fact can be emotionally and psychologically toxic- even dangerous.

If you watched Playboy series. Then you will understand any age female can be drugged because it's happen to me. Any man in American who decides he wants his way with you - you will be drugged by a bartender or eating a restaurant meal. It's happen enough times to me.

In that sort of environment I have to assume that it can attract the very worst in human beings who would have such criminal intent. Small wonder the series shows and discusses a number of "celebrities" involved. Including actor/comedian Bill Cosby.

People who knew their appetites could- and would be "shielded" by their host, Hugh Hefner. Those accustomed to getting exactly what they want and when they want it. Legal or not.

But he drugged many females. I stop dating once l found out l was on the desirable let's drug you circuit.

I read about it in Los Angeles. Then it happened to me in Florida. Now my girlfriend tells me about a elder lady being drugged and raped in her own apartment. So l am concerned about internet porn.

Sadly, l have heard of young females being drugged by bartenders and videotaped by the date rape and it is put out on the internet. So it's not just me. There are victims who suffer way more in this lifetime. And maybe some young female is reading this and is wiser.

I was drugged at an Applebee's down the street from me and by the veteran bartender at a golf club l was employed by. And l was afraid to eat employee meals because the main cook was sitting in his car when l got off of work. I didn't trust him. He made it obvious that he was a bored married man. Woman like me try to work regular jobs and we face more harassment then unattractive females.

Yes I didn't mean you were blaming, but that a lot of progress is shut down by the activity of mutual blaming. Really we need to find supportive solutions instead. There was a recent situation in the UK where a young woman helped others to raise issues of being sexually molested and targeted at school by some young men, fellow pupils, and she very wisely in my opinion, pursued the attempt to find solutions rather than to apportion blame, where then theres arguing and defensiveness and nothing gets done about this widespread problem.

These young men and girls need help and education about the issues, so they don't either feel targeted or coerced, or become molesters and sexual bullies.

My favourite porn is Thai, and other Asian ladyboys. :D

Yeah. I met a few.

Thinking of joining a few free dating sites. Although I am expecting to get absolutely nowhere, because I can bet they're full of people that enjoy wasting your time. They're not very good, to be honest. But you have to separate the chaff to find the golden wheat sometimes. So maybe you could get lucky, if you keep at it. But I have my doubts.

Perhaps,...I mean, my personal beliefs and truths are a reflection of MY life, the people around me, and my information bubble. I just haven't run across men with the belief system you are describing,...not ever,...but that's my "bubble". Granted, back in the day, when "toxic" masculinity was everyday, normal behavior,...and objectifying women was more "blatant" and "open",...but, even under these circumstances, it was more or less a way to get attention,...even if it meant a slap in the face,...the guys around them would just laugh. I don't think these same men even had a thought in their heads as to the psychological effects it had on the women around them. Had they that perspective at the time, I think many, not all,...would have apologized,...seriously. I mean, I grew up with some "manly men",...worked with their hands, beer drinking, mouths like sailors, bad jokes, whistling at girls,...all the old cliche behavior. But, I never heard of any of them being "sexual deviants". I also didn't grow up in the internet age and social isolation like many young people have,...we had to socialize,...it really wasn't an option not to. I also grew up with a set of loving parents and an "intact" family with strong, conservative values,...a stay-at-home mom,...a hard-working father,...it wasn't perfect by any standard,...there was dysfunction there,...but there was a set of core values and morals, for sure. Professionally, my wife and I are in healthcare, so we approach these sorts of things with that sort of "filter",...the social, psychological, and health perspective,...and certainly all the people we associate with on a daily basis are of like mind. So,...despite my age, experience, and research,...I still have my "bubble" and perspectives.

So, I think this leaves us back to the original post and question,...with regards to the context and perspective of young folks on the autism spectrum in today's world,...who may have varying degrees of social dysfunction or naivety,...what sorts of harm can be done by viewing pornography? Perhaps I might not have the perspective to discuss this topic with accuracy, but I think this answer, given the more recent changes within the porn industry, may be evolving and a bit nebulous.
