Anyone remember seeing this cartoon from "The Electric Company" as a child? What's your interpretation of it? I know it was primarily meant to be a spelling lesson, but what do you make of what's happening in the cartoon?

At my old house I had them pretty bad. In the crawl space, one wall was solid with them. And one of the bedrooms, they all ganged up and would attack you. My daughter loved ladybugs until then (she was 2), ever since then she's been afraid of them. Can't say I blame her. Some were actual ladybugs, some were those Japanese beetles.

All sorts of weird things happen in droughts here, droughts seem to be a regular part of the cycle. Much of South Australia has been in drought for several years now, and they usually end in a massive storm where it rains either fish or frogs. That happens regularly too, yet every time the news services respond as if it's never happened before and is a freak event. I've never seen it rain fish but I've seen it rain frogs.

Raining fish definitely happens here, though I haven't experiened it. Plenty of waterspouts happen on the Great Lakes. Basically a water tornado. It sucks up water, along with any fish in it. If it reaches land it fizzles out, and the water along with the fish get dropped.

It doesn't show up as well in the photograph, but the ants apparently decided to be a bit opportunistic about it being desheding season at the horse pasture. Nothing like a horse hair shade canopy.
