Does anyone here on the board listen to podcasts rather than the radio or music? If so, which ones (if you care to share)... do you recommend any?

I listen to some because I don't care for the radio. Radio channels around here have way too much music blaring and not enough talking segments. Besides, I don't like most stuff they talk about. I can't really tolerate the stupid randomness for most part on radioshows, but mostly it's because the music annoys me way too much. I always felt radio didn't equal music, just like television doesn't equal movie. The only radioshow I actually listened to, on pretty much a daily basis was the Howard Stern Show, though I was day behind and listened to about the first 2 hours when I was doing my newspaperroute in the morning.

So I guess podcasts are the next step in finding something to listen to if you're somewhere if you don't want to listen to music.

Looking around at the subscriptions I have on itunes;

-The nerdist (a podcast which features a bunch of nerdish comedians having equally "nerdy" guests. Recently they had Neil degrasse Tyson as a guest, I thought it was hilarious)
-WTF (hosted by Marc Maron, a stand-up comedian himself having other comedians over for an interview)
-1up.com (Actual reviews and discussion on new videogames and developments in that field of interest)
-IGN.com (like 1up.com)

From this list I think The nerdist might appeal to more people on this board. They're having a tv-show soon as well. They had their pilot episode last month or so, that was pretty funny as well.

I am a nerd, and have been listening to The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe for several years, and it is definitely my favorite.

StarTalk is pretty great, too. It is hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson, and he often has comedians with him. The live shows tend to go totally off the rails.

I listened to an episode of Rationally Speaking, and it is making me reconsider my old disdain of the field of philosophy.
