Owls are Adorable

You know, that one lady we met that one time.

A few hours ago, @Levelskid posted on their wall the following: "People think I'm weird for thinking owls are cute (they beat koalas in my book)."

I would like to reply to Levelskid that those people who disagree with you are nothing but ruffians and uncultured boors. With their chubby faces, little beaks, and big, expressive eyes, owls are the cutest and most interesting animals. Highly intelligent too! Anyone who disagrees is a poopy head.

Do you want to be a poopy head? Didn't think so. Therefore, read through the following posts and see just why owls are in fact, the cutest animal.

"Yo, my man! What's up?"

I love owls. They are beautiful and fascinating. I have an owl hat for winter - I don't wear it much anymore because it started to wear out and I want to be able to wear it sometimes for years. I also have an owl comfort fidget thingy. And a stuffed toy/plushie owl. My favorite mug is shaped like a cartoonish blue owl.

I'm a model, if you know what I mean and I do my little turn on the catwalk..."

I sleep with a little realistic plush barn owlet in my bed.

I have had a couple of owl friends in my life. Owls are raptors so they never really tame. But they can come to know you as safe, and won't spook.

I love being around them. Watching them hunt. Or just looking at an owl as they look at me.

Their bodies turn in such funny ways. They're so hypermobile and expressive.

Owls love being sung to. Their little satellite dish head will turn right toward you, transfixed, as you sing soft and slow. You'll see their eyes visibly relax. It's a beautiful moment if you can have it.

That is so awesome! owl-whisperer -- kindred spirit to them. It does not surprise me that they would appreciate your singing if they get you, and see you as a sort of friend...singing is the language of birds, after all (to me it the language of all creatures that communicate with sound, just with various formats and meanings and additions....)

I have never gotten close enough to an owl and may never get close enough to try to sing to one...I am stuck in big cities; There are owls in the city but they are hard to spot, very wary of people usually, including me it would seem. But if I ever get the chance I will remember what you said and see how they react if I sing soft and low to them; I have been close enough to an eagle and another time a falcon in the city that I could have sung to them.

Ravens also seem very unphased by me...I have gotten very close to them -- been startled to look up and see them just feet away, staring curiously at me. Their little crow cousins, it is more hit and miss...

Once when I lived in Toronto, I was crouching against a low concrete wall, writing something for work, and a tiny little bird (not sure of the species) hopped out from a nearby bush and looked curiously up at me, chirruping in a friendly, inquisitive way, and them hopped right underneath me into the space between me and the ground. It just hung out with me for a bit, chirruped at me a little more, and went on its way. Its friendly, inquisitive nature and display of trust is something I carry with me and cherish. [btw I said "hello" and tried to chirrup back at it - it knew I was awake and aware of its presence, that's why I felt trusted - they don't normally get that close, although for all I know that one had befriended other humans already that perhaps fed it, and maybe that is why it was cool with me]

Owls are mysterious strangers I merely admire from afar. I am so happy for you that you have been able to sing to them. 😊

And I like the name for your weaving!

My Grandmother loves owls; she had loads of ornaments and pictures of them around her home for a long time before having a good clearout later.
She still has some of them, though, and she got to hold a Barn Owl some years back when we went to a fair which had a falconry section - which she very much enjoyed. :)
