Organized or messy?

It's pathological in my case. Maybe with a little heredity thrown in for good measure.

Guilty as charged.

"OCD R Us" or "Deutsche Ordnung". Take your pick!

I am organized in some things and messy in others.
Now that we are empty-nesters, I am starting to organize the latter more.

I'm cluttered, messy and disorganised.
I once bought a set of plastic drawers to keep my art stuff tidy and organised, and wrote on sticky labels on each drawer what was inside them. What could go wrong, eh?
Now all the contents in each drawer don't contain what it says on the sticky labels, and I have to open each drawer and rummage through all the untidy stuff when looking for something. I think that was caused by starting projects but never finishing them (both art and writing projects).

When I was a kid me and my parents would have a big tidy up in my room every now and then, and they would tell me to keep it that way and to put things away after I've finished with them. I told myself that would be easy, because how hard can it really be? But my room still grew messy within a week or two, and I never knew how and I never noticed it become messy until my parents would be like "your room is messy again!"
But that might be typically true for most children.

I've been wondering how many of you prefer everything perfectly organized and how many aren't able to maintain organized environment (or maybe even don't want to do so). I'm one of those people who absolutely needs organized environment (actually not only at home but everywhere) but personally I have hard time maintaining it. I believe the main reason is problem with categorizing things, and then when I finally do that I start questioning what to do with all the categories. My husband (and my parents in the past) kept telling me, "just do it, don't think about it". The problem is. when I "just do" it once without putting any thought to it the organization system might stop making sense to me tomorrow and everything will end up lying all over the place again. The problem is - I function much better in organized environment (unlike my husband who can function fine in absolute chaos...I guess that's the ADHD thing :) ), kids are also much calmer and happier in organized spaces...
Anyway it appears that lots of people on the spectrum (unless they have been well trained, not necessarily by specialists but let's say, by parents) have problems with organization. It might be true not only for spaces but also for lives in general.

Would you agree or disagree? and how is it for you?
I am very organised and clean and when everything is clean I do not lose but yes it can be a struggle to keep it that way especially when it is easy to pull things out then you have to put them away.
It is easy to struggle with the daily grind of cleaning
I am sick but it can seem like a lot and exhausting
And then easy to neglect self care as well.
I am very domestic in the sense I usually love cleaning and organising.
When I feel awful, cleaning gives me an outlet.
When I feel awful, I emotional eat or clean often.
So I guess having mess gives you an outlet but then being sick like me, I just want everything done for me.
