Hi. I am a Mom who has a a daughter with high functioning aspergers. She is sixteen and was diagnosed late.. I have learnt so much already by viewing all the info from this great community of people. I just want my daughter to embrace her non NT status and be happy. I worry about her preferred social isolation and her desire to spend all her free time in her room online with her friends who are into anime. She is amazing in so many ways. Ok enough - thanks to all who teach me something everyday.:)

Welcome to the site. I sure there many people on here will share great advice and I will too when I have something good to contribute.

Welcome :)

I hope you feel right at home here, and are able to find answers to any questions that you may have. Feel free to browse our forums, and join our discussions. Our parenting section is here: Parenting & Autism Discussions | AspiesCentral.com

We also have a recommended resources section, for books on AS. I recommend anything written by Dr. Tony Attwood: Resources | AspiesCentral.com

As you have a daughter on the spectrum, I would also like to recommend this book. It has many helpful guidelines for both young women on the spectrum, and their parents, to better understand how AS affects women differently to men. It also has a survival guide for typical social pitfalls we women may face in life: Aspergirls: Empowering Females With Asperger Syndrome | AspiesCentral.com

Welcome to AspiesCentral :)

Please do ask most anything you want to know from those of us who live in the spectrum. I think you will find us both friendly and informative here.

Welcome, Bean!

I think, if you spend enough time here, you will realize that Aspies (or HFA's, as the new diagnostic criteria refer to it) do quite well spending a lot of time alone. If you are looking for answers, I hope you find them. We have an entire section devoted to parenting. :)

Welcome aboard.
33 diagnosed here, I enjoy alone time very much, at least 30 minutes per day, minimum.

Glad to see accepting parents.

Best wishes.
