My Curious Documentary

Southern Discomfort

I just found the BBC documentary for theatre play of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime on YouTube. I've been searching this for months, I've asked if the BBC could put it up on the BBC Store, they've never gotten around to it.

Here's the link to it:

ive seen it,its very good, they take autistic kids from a special school [if i remember correctly] and bring them to a showing of it,to see what they think,i cant look at it now as im going out to my mums and shopping.
i dont know, the theater version looks really abstract and weird, compared to the book,i dont understand it really and wouldnt want to go to it.

I'd like to see it in the theatre, it's getting there that's the problem. I also get a bit anxious when finding a seat and that sort of thing.

i think they do a autism friendly showing of it southern discomfort,i think the one in the documentary was autism friendly.
youd have to bring some ear defenders if you were sound sensitive, bring sunglasses if your overloaded by lights-the show is quite bright in places if i remember correctly.

is there any showing near you? i know it was playing at the lowry centre in salford a while ago, wanted to go but i dont think id understand it.
i know i push this alot but i dont mean to do it in a preachy way- but i recommend getting some CBD and a vape stick, puff on that when your cueing up and trying to find a seat, thatd help you greatly and make theaters accessible to you.

have you ever seen the autism friendly theater showing of the lion king? it sounds good how they adapt it for us, and war horse looks amazing in the theater to but i dont think its been made autism friendly to be fair its not that bad for us-i have a professional copy of the theater version.

Nah, I don't have any problems in that department. I did once jump on a transition screen whilst watching The Prisoner of Azkaban in the cinema though, it was ridiculously loud! And unless I'm really tired I don't have any problems with artificial light. I'm like a vampire.

I don't see anything in my area, the south west. Sounds like I'd need to go all the way to London for it. My sister might get my tickets for my birthday coming up soon, we talked about it a little bit a few months ago and she said I should see it, wouldn't be surprised if she went and did that.

Thanks for the thought, I think I'd just power through it, like taking off a plaster. I'm okay once I'm sat down. I've decided to never take up smoking - vaping for that matter. Short answer, it just doesn't appeal to me.

I've never actually went to the theatre to see anything, the last time I was a theatrical play I was still in school, some 9 years ago. As long at what I'm watching doesn't have singing in it I'm okay with it I can not stand musicals!

So glad you are doing ok with your meds. I loved that book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime! I live in the USA, don;t know if I will ever get to see it.

Thanks, I had to have them adjusted because of the one and only side effect I got from the risperidone. I got depressed again and it wasn't very nice.

The Curious Incident should be in theatres all over America by now. It's been over two years since it's American depute on Broadway. But like everything I guess it depends on where you live.
