My Birthday coming up: ideas for how to avoid it?

What I really hate about birthdays is when people who treat you badly the rest of the year, suddenly pretend to act nice to you because it's your birthday.

Yeah and same at Xmas. No contact whatsoever for the whole year and they post presents...they might as well not bother, you know what I mean? But it's nice they're still thinking of us and vice versa. Weird how times have changed.
