Musicals!

I just saw Hamilton on the big screen - a filmed version with the original Broadway cast. I thought it was amazing.

Other movie musicals I enjoy are -
West Side Story
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The Happiness of the Katakuris
A Star is Born (Judy Garland)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
RRR
Sweeney Todd
Dancer in the Dark

What are your favorite movie musicals?

Musicals are something that I either really really like or I hate them. So I only have a few on my list:

The Music Man
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Mary Poppins
Les Miserables

Busby Berkeley's 42nd Street - 1933

The ultimate "time capsule" of another era- before I was born.

As for live performances, I felt privileged to have seen Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera". Though I still also recall when my mother surprised me, taking me to a local stage production of 42nd Street. We both loved it. :)

Cabaret, Chicago, Funny Girl, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Gypsy, The Yellow Submarine. Oh yes, Cats.

I never liked musicals, but 1970s rock operas were great.

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Tommy
The Wall

Back then we all expected something like that to come from David Bowie, we were excited about the idea of the Ziggy Stardust story, but it never happened.

I participated in two musicals in elementary school that toured our school district,
  • Grade 5: The Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz &
  • Grade 6: The King in The Frog Prince.
I was invited to audition for a child part in a local production of The King & I but had no ride to get there.

My playlist includes show tunes.
