Music playing equipment, anyone into this? Pedals, instruments, keyboards ……

I know there's a few people in here that are in to this sort of thing, some for the sake of music, others just for a love of the hardware. It's all beyond me though, I was born tone deaf with no sense of rhythm.

I would not even know how to use any of that. I play a Deering Goodtime banjo and the only electronic thing I have is the tuner.

When I was young as a session cellist I wondered about pedals. Some sort of musical voodoo. Now i use them on my fretless basses and upright bass.

I use a modeler for live and recording. It has every amp, speaker and effect unit I could think of wanting. You do have to line up everything for specific soundscapes, still. I never thought the modelers would be as spot on as they've become. I'm impressed a little more each day.

Fun! I have a few pedals that I use sometimes. I haven't played guitar much for a while. My friend makes his own pedals. He's very good at it I have a similar Boss switch pedal, its got two switches side by side, I'm not entirely sure where I got it but I used to use it with my old digital piano as the pedal box had gotten lost. Its handy as it can work as a latch or momentary switch and you can flip its polarity. Worked pretty well but didn't quite have the right feel. I have a Yamaha digital piano now with all its pedals.

I never used much more than over drive really with my guitars, maybe some delay or reverb every now and then.

I miss the 80s, our live music scene wasn't just vibrant, it was an integral part of our society. I wish there was some way of getting people back in to pubs with live performers. Getting to and from venues without getting done for DUI is one part of the problem, and the other is the price of beer these days. Reducing the excise on beer might be needed to get that ball rolling again.

The music scene in Melbourne is not as busy as it was pre covid. There are lots more opportunities to play though as there are less bands. I have better equipment too which is great. Lighter, more powerful, heaps more choice. I have lots of basses and not one fender!

My keyboards have the effects/ pedals built in also. the red keyboards.

I’ve been considering a modeling pedal but am so familiar with my pedals and what they do. I’m tempted but it would mean learning a new approach. I probably will buy one down the track.

I’ve bought another bass. I really needed a lightweight fretless six. Really really needed it. Well wanted it. (I’m justifying it buy selling my last fretted basses though )
