Mac OS X users: Any weirdness updating Google Chrome?

I know, I know, I could Google it...but I figured I would ask some real human beings instead.

Normally, as we know, Chrome updates itself, with no intervention on the part of the user...once you close the browser, you have the brand spankin' new, shiny updated version running for you.

Not so most recently. I kept being prompted at the home page to go to the actual Web site to manually update my browser. Now that I have done so, the "look and feel" is quite different from before. Much like their mobile versions, in fact.

Maybe it's because I moved back to a place with much slower Internet. And I have yet to try this out on Windows. But it seems quite strange to me.

No problems here with Chrome or FireFox/Waterfox or any other web browsers updating on Mac OS (it's not called OS X anymore).

Windows 10 on the other hand... :(

Just wondering. What exact version of OSX are you using?
10.11.6

Actually it is still called OS X (but that's beside the point :P ). I have not noticed any trouble with Windows 10 Pro (which I run via Boot Camp).

Maybe it's just a one-time fluke. Again, I'm guessing it's probably because I moved to a place with much slower internet.
