I tend to put autistic, I mean artistic appeal, slightly above absolute realism.
Please forgive me. 🙏

With AFVs I can better understand why many modelers go with making them look as realistic as possible, to the point of being well....a mess. Same with some doing aircraft and worse still, ships.

Might be my OCD, which intrudes into everything at times. I do weather my AFV models, but with a sense of retaining aesthetics. Somehow I believe that scaling down realism doesn't always translate well.

I like 1/16 scale for that reason.

One word:
DON'T TRUST 'EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha, she has been working with my parents for a long time though, and she recently had a brain surgery that made her unable to go out. Despite that she is still managing her business.

Of course i still don' t fully trust her but i feel sympathetic to her situation.

Not all real estate agents are corrupt, but based on personal experience, most are.
I had a history in investment properties, BTW.

The same with car salesmen.

Whew...these low Southern temps have to be awful on orchids. :(
Yes, they are.

Orchids grow in all kinds of environments from the arctic to the tropics. Mine are mostly tropical, and I brought inside all the ones in pots earlier in the year.

There are a few planted outside. I took cuttings of the bamboo orchid (grows 6 feet tall) and the vanilla orchid (a vine that grows up trees.) There are four living outside including these two. I will see what survives.

Even mature mango trees can suffer damage at 26F.

It will be freezing again tonight.

My mother did such an amazing job growing Tulips in Washington and Orchids when we lived on Guam. Yet I also remember how often she fretted over them. Of course I also recall when my brother tried his luck at nurturing a Bonsai Tree. And me later when my Boston Ferns. They can be work to take care of. Personally I think I was just plain lucky with the ferns...lol.

Old, old picture...but you get the picture. She so loved her tulips. ;)

But these low temperatures so far to the south...so damaging. :(

LOL...Had fun last night giving it more thought relative to painting. Yeah, at that size I clearly would have to reevaluate how I paint AFVs.

Though at that size, it would allow me to recreate how I used to make Zimmerit coatings back in the late 70s and early 80s. Perhaps one of the rarest methods- melting the actual plastic surface with a "hotknife" and an Xacto #11 blade snapped off to flatten it like a chisel. Though it took lots of patience, and the ability to be VERY careful. One wrong stroke and it could ruin the whole thing.

My second Tamiya Panther Ausf A built late 70s. No photo-etched parts back then, had to use household screen that wasn't to scale. Note all the black highlighting such as the rivet details on the bogey wheels and other parts. Not done with washes, but with a 2B drafting pencil lead with a needle sharp point to it. And of course, all the Zimmerit is melted into the model itself. With occasional spots where I melted smaller areas to make it look like it had been chipped off through shellfire:

Back then I had access to high quality acrylic Polly S paints. They had a finely-ground pigment that made painting figures much easier than the acrylics I use today. Though mostly it comes down to cost, as Vallejo/Tamilya acrylics are so expensive. But I know I should try them some time....

With the biggest problem being where to store a 1/16 scale model? Too bloody big! :p

It's always weird to watch Americans panic over what I consider normal weather. In the meantime it is unseasonably warm here and I don't like it. I have three planned photo shoots that need snow, which has melted.

It's a bit unnerving here as well, but then we depend on all that precipitation for water first and foremost. Otherwise we have the proper infrastructure to manage the weather relative to our roads for the most part. This year is not particularly warm so much as lacking precipitation at the valley level. Leaving the higher elevations with snow, but even the ski industry isn't all that happy with the present weather.

I am good at starting projects, but bad at finishing them, hence my decision to collect kits rather than build them.
Not finishing projects is a classic example of ADHD.

I find that my 1/6 scale armour is even bigger than my 1/16 collection. 🤔

I never tried the Zimmerit.
I found it quite intimidating.

For 1/6 scale you go and get the paint from the hardware shop. lol

I have a whole house to myself, so it isn't that much of a problem for me.
But I have essentially moved away from the hobby due to painful associations.
I might get back into it, but the property maintenance is a bit too hefty for me, and I refuse to pay someone to do it for me, since it is part of my exercise program, and I am retired and should do it anyway.

Did shopping today, despite it being very cold, and l was feeling feverish. @Judge you should start a post on the models you have done, some very detailed nice work.

We never have snow in Sydney proper.
The winters are usually quite mild.
Sydney has a temperate climate, and in my opinion, the best weather in Australia.

I was a bit taken back to learn of the winds and weather patterns of Tasmania. I guess I wouldn't mind Sydney or Brisbane either. I do prefer warm/hot weather to very cold winters.

Yeah, it was probably warmer at your house than mine today.

Meanwhile, check Kamchatka, Russia, for their snow storm. There are some AI fakes, like snow piles as high as 11 story buildings, but some of the reports have been verified.

If you want a hotter climate, Queensland is the choice for you, IMO.
They have a motto about the weather:
"Beautiful one day...Perfect the next..."

I will not go to Victoria because it is the crime capital of Australia now.
I almost went to live there after my mother died, but dodged the bullet.

Sydney is the best for me.
