Life with Asperger Syndrome

Somebody said to me, look at Clay Marzo, he's a surfer with Asperger Syndrome and he's successful.

I said, first of all, Clay Marzo is way too small of a sample.
I can't just look at Clay Marzo and say that I can be success too.

First of all he's an athlete, in a sport that Unless you're just about BORN playing it, you can't do it at all.
He's not a worker, not a businessman, not an employee, not a student...
He's an athlete.

Second of all, He's from California.
Perhaps can you say whatever it is that you want about California...
But the fact of the matter is, that if you got nowhere else to go...
California is your ticket to freedom and respect.

I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A nasty, disgusting city and the poorest population of people in the state of Pennsylvania.

Thirdly, Clay Marzo's family had the money to buy what they need for him and he had the right kind of parents..
I had to take what the State of Pennsylvania gave me.

They gave me a Air Force captain for a Wood Shop teacher, in a dead end school that isn't even there to educate the students.

So unless you have a better example than Clay Marzo, keep on walking buddy.
:)

What? Was this a reference to something? Was it supposed to be a poem or some inspiring message? What? I googled Clay Marzo and found out he's an aspie surfer but why would you post this? What possible conversation could come from this to be worth a thread? You posted so many words yet said nothing. What? And this is 2 threads in a row. What? WHAT?!!

I don't get it, in fact the only thing I've gained from this is the realisation that I'm becoming an arse when I've been drinking, which is becoming more frequent. I can feel my late night responses have been getting more bitter or angry in the last couple of weeks. But seriously, WHAT?

Welcome to the forum... I guess.

I'm sure I'll regret this in the morning but can I be removed, please? This isn't because of Evans81186 so sorry.

I agree Sylar, that first one was totally inflammatory and this one just... O_o

Evans, it sounds as if there may be lots of things that get you irate... Maybe you could write a blog concerning these subjects, if its a case of you just wanting to get them off your chest.

I can clearly see that you're in a bit of a rut. It's easy to lay blame your current situation on things around you, I know I've been there myself.

What you need to realise is that you should never compare your life to others and that the only person that can change your life is you, so what are you going to do today to improve your situation?

With me, I didn't do so well at school so at first I couldn't get the job that I wanted. I got myself into a rut and ended up realising that I still have plenty of time to change things around so studied part time and got myself back on track. I'm now working in the same field as my dream job, I haven't yet landed it but I'm getting closer to it.

I hope this helps.
